JoseCFII
What causes this to happen at dusk? Jose
Adam Banks
I get this too. Barely noticeable, but there. Never noticed it before! Best seen from outside/top view. Happens all the way through the Sound, but peters out eventually after you turn right/north up past Jeffery's Bay. Adam.
Alex Goff
It's an FSX/P3D issue with how water textures are drawn. You can see all sorts of grids and rectangular patterns in water given the correct lighting and angle.
JoseCFII
I don't see this at NZQN, but I did see it today in Tahoe.
JoseCFII
Can one of our talented devs fix this PLEASE?
Adam Banks
From what Alex says, I don't think it's fixable. Try it in a default FSX area (no ORBX, Global or whatever) and see if it still occurs. I get it at night time in airport areas as well - but again, I don't think it's an ORBX issue as such. Adam. Alex Goff
There is no fix, sorry. You can see these squares almost anywhere in FSX with photoreal water and in some cases waterclass tiles. There's nothing in the photoreal imagery that causes it, it's just a result of how FSX/P3D renders water. Another way to see it is to slew out over the ocean, go into top-down view, and zoom out a bit. The grids will start to appear at a far out zoom level. Another example on photoreal water would be an area like Crater Lake or Klamath Lake, you can see the grids during the daytime.
