zbs
Hello, wile I was enjoying the demo, I have discovered a green patch in the middle of the dessert, specifically, KEDW. The entire airport now sits on the green field. I did uninstall the demo using FTX however the issue persists. Can you please provide feedback on how to address this? Thank you. zbs
Same issue with KLAS and all other Nevada/desert airports..
fabs79
If I remember correctly, it'`s a known issue that there is no "desertbeneath a runway" texture, so all runways within a desert will be located on a small patch of green grass around them. I don`t know if this is a specific error of FTX Global/Iceland demo or FSX itself, but several people reported this.
Nick Cooper
Normally, FSX desert airfields are on sand backgrounds, despite what you may be able to read elsewhere on this forum. You can return the grass desert airfield textures to sand by replacing the terrain.cfg file with the modified version by Richard Ludowise and Luis Féliz-Tirado from November 2006. No one should be using the default FSX version which is faulty was never fixed. Please don't do it unless you know how to restore your current version. These are FTX Global textures. Whether you you would want to and risk a great deal of damage elsewhere is another matter. It's not a new issue, have a read of this. http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/62255-green-airport-pads-in-desert/ and this http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/62519-global-causing-green-airports-in-desert-regions/?hl=%2Bairport+%2Bbackground questions but no answers. zbs
Thank you for your feedback, I did purchase FTX global last night and of course, the issue is still there and looks terrible. Hopefully this will be addressed soon!
zbs
Ok, Nick to your point, I've used my back up terrain.cfg and that has resolved the issue. Now the airports blend with the surroundings as they should.
Nick Cooper
Good, but you may see things elsewhere that are not properly displayed. You will probably need to use your backed up ( you did, I hope) current one if not flying in a desert area. The two files are very different. Regards, Nick. zbs
You are correct, they are and I am only using original for desert flying.
