PNW - Lack of Scenery Detail

I am a new user of PNW scenery.  I believe I am not getting the complete scenery detail I should be getting. I downloaded the demo version first and got a good appreciation of the scenery detail at KHQM.  I uninstalled using the uninstaller, which by the way I don't believe worked properly. I then installed the complete package. (Twice actually)  I had some difficulties on the install. Downloading the latest library seemed to correct it. When I go to KHQM now with the full package installed, I am not seeing near the same scenery detail or sounds.  Example: No Cafe or ship docked nearby. I also have no KHQM control panel in FTX Central.  Makes me wonder what else I am not seeing but should be.

Step one of the installation instructions says the following:

Unzip the FlightSimStore.com (FSS) downloaded ZIP file. You should end up with TEN SETUP_PNW.x data files, this PDF user guide, the Google Earth KMZ file and the FSS installer application OrbxFTXNABlue.exe.

When I unzipped the 4,488,610 KB download I only got 4 files, not 10:

FTXNAPNW1005.2

FTXNAPNW1005.3

Important_Read_Me!.txt

OrbxFTXNABluePNW100.exe

Did I not get a full download?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Rick,

Do check for Service packs and install at least the last one, they normally include all the previous changes, I think the latest is SP5.  KHQM was added at one of the last service packs.  When you're finished you need to reset FTX Central to North America.  I'm not sure about the 10 files, I think maybe that was an early way to keep the download sizes down.  "OrbxFTXNABluePNW100.exe" is the base scenery file.  Holger is perhaps a better helper here as PNW and the SP's are under his control.

Cheers, Neil

Your download is the same as mine. I think the original FSX-only PNW download had a larger number of smaller files, and the documentation refers to that. The updated installer (FSX and P3D, including patch 005) is split into three larger files.

As for KHQM, I believe it is included in the demo, but it comes as a separate download for the full scenery. See the freeware page (http://www.fullterrain.com/freeware.html), and make sure you get all the other free airports, they're excellent ;)

Hi Rick,

for the informations you wrote, i would have reinstall overall like this :

- install PNW scenery (or re-install, no matter)

- turn on FTX Central and set it to NA

- install last PNW update (update 005 at this time - see support section on Orbx website) --> check after each update that FTX Central hasn't return to "default". If Yes, then put FTX Central on NA again

- install Freewares fields from orbx's freeware section (KHQM - 2S1 - Portland cityscape - 7WA3 - CBB7)

- Install paywares fields if you got some

- Install last libraries available on the support section, last download of the section, on the low part of the page

Install everything in this order, then defrag your disk, then launch FSX, it should work fine ;)
