MarkH
http://www.dailymail...o=feeds-newsxml Wow, to see these back home again, really brings "a lump to the throat" of all English aviators & enthusiasts....we have found them at long last!!! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20515659 Bit of a discrepancy between these two reports, though. The Mail suggests they have been located, while the BBC report says it's not known for sure that they ever existed!
Capt Pugwash
They have them...confirmed yesterday, but they need to keep the exact location under tight wraps for obvious reasons! Imagine what they are worth as a Squadron?... Been all over the national radio news today! />http://uk.reuters.com/article/2012/11/28/uk-britain-myanmar-spitfires-idUKBRE8AR0XY20121128
MarkH
They have them...confirmed yesterday Still not seeing any of that in the media. If they do turn out to exist it's potentially good news but all that speculation about flying at airshows sounds a bit premature. I'm reminded of the Glacier Girl story, which ultimately yielded the very, very battered remains of one P38 that essentially had to be remanufactured from scratch. Cal
Yeah, but what if its true and what if the British actually packed them before burial? Imagine 10 or 20 of 'em lined up on a sunny field. Shivers! Cal
Capt Pugwash
I would pay to see an England "line up" of those Spits... Also asked the Wife for just one of them for Crimbo...she said "get yourself a down load" sound familar guys?
Paul K
Yeah, but what if its true and what if the British actually packed them before burial? Imagine 10 or 20 of 'em lined up on a sunny field. Shivers! Cal We've already had well over 10 Spitfires lined up on the same sunny field here, Cal, on several occasions. Duxford's Flying Legends and September airshows, usually. Neil
Article in today's "Telegraph", say's they have detected the burial area, and have drilled down, through 2" of Canadian Pine, put a camera in, and seen aircraft parts! Let's hope this is not too good to be true. A story worth following!

Tim Harris
No Spits in the holes they have dug so far, but the bloke researching it all says they have been looking in the wrong spot so far.... hopefully everyone will listen to him and change sites (?), so chin up its not over yet! tennyson
The thought crossed my mind that this might be a smoke screen. If they were real smart, they'd say that it was all a bust and the media and everybody would lose interest and allow them to successfully extract the spitties and get them back home. Then they could say, "Hey guys, we found them but had to tell a little white lie to get them back safely". I'm hoping that's what's occurring.
