Maurice_King
I all honesty neither, If you want to make Aircraft repaints then GIMP is a good free one but you will need other tools to convert alpha layers and bmp to DDS. IMHO the ONLY thing FS Repaint is good for is to be able to preview in 3D.
wombat
thanks Maurice, I do use Paint Shop Pro X which I think is better than Gimp, I also have a program called DXT bmp by Martin Wright, would this convert the alpha layers?
jaydor
Wombat Yes to DXTbmp, Paint shop pro is ok so why change? I have found FS repaint corrupts my files so have stopped using it. Also when it imports the paint layers, some of the layers are merged together and cause problems, (like part of the tail over lapping into the fuselarg). I use Photoshop Cs2 now, so I am still in the learning stages with PS; as it has a very large learning curve and my brain finds it difficult even in the easy bits. Hope you find your way there, good luck..
