RTK1972
good morning, just was sitting here and looking at Cairns airport... What do you think, will we ever get sloped runways in FSX ? Cheers, Carsten
Henderson Pow
I'm not sure if we would see sloped runways. It would be interesting to have but what difference would it have? It does look good looking down the runway and seeing it but it depends whether some people like or not. BTW I was checking out Cairns and it seems it doesn't have a runway slope to it. Edward Boyte
I think PAKT has a sloped runway. Also there's some airstrips that have sloped runways in NZSI. There's one surrounded by trees but no one hasn't found it, yet.
Leonardson
Sloped runways are not only possible in FSX but some already exist. St.Barthelemy in the Caribbean by Marc-Henri Guitteny, Lukla X by Aerosoft and Courchevel in the Alps by various publishers to name but three. Henderson Pow
Well it depends what sort of airport your talking about. The big major airports, the runway slope is not a big factor.
Maurice_King
It is to coin a phrase a doddle to create virtually any shaped runway ie sloped hump in the middle etc BUT FSX AND FS9 have flat AFCAD's for lighting etc, a runway could easily be made like a track in some race Sim games ie in 3DS Max but ALL the runway lighting etc would have to be done the same way as scenery objects. this becomes a bit of a pain in the end with light mapping etc. After I have finished nutting out my fully working PAPI and TVASI lighting I should have a crack at Snowy Mountains Airport as it has a saddle shape with an elevation change of nearly 80 ft end to end if memory serves.
