Awesome Mango  ::)  My biggest fear is not getting a system upgrade before you release YRED  :(  I,m already missing so much ,,  Soon I hope , cheers , Johnno

System upgrade? YREDv2 has almost doubled the FPS from YREDv1 through the use of the new Orbx object libraries which are all gmax modeled and more efficient that the default FSX objects previously used, so no need for upgrades.

There goes that excuse!!!  ;D

Hehehe yeah  ;D.

i am surprised myself - v2 has much more objects then v1 (close to 800) and maintains good FPS. Of course the Brisbane area got a massive amount of autogen and it is a good idea to reduce the autogen slider a notch.

We are getting closer, please hang on - night lightening has been updated and John Ross is currently working on a custom terminal building (which will replace the yellow/white marquise thingy).

Thanks for your replies everybody  :).

Yeah, it's a never ending loop with the need for new hardware... When we finally get something running very well, we immediately ask for more realistic graphics and environment, which of course requires again more PC muscles. Well, it's called progress...  ;)

Yesterday evening i added some more parking spots (where they in reality actually are). I am using stock MyTrafficX AI (set to 100% GA for this picture)

And since i can't see this sunken C172 wheels anymore and since i couldn't find anything via Google, i adjusted the contact points myself. If you like to give it a go, here they are (i checked it only on my lousy low res office PC yet, but it should be o.k.)

The contact points you'll find inside the aircraft.cfg. Always make a backup before you apply changes.

Yeah, i really like those. Oh, since we talk about making a difference - the REX Beta is a moment away, but Tim sent me kindly his Asphalt textures in advance. I just picked one blind and wow... Those make a difference as well. I know there are worn out types included, but i think i will keep just that one for now...  ;D

(pity that i can't post the full res picture, that would be 9 MB...)

Thanks Chris and gwolb. Yep, i'll upload Beta RTM A today or tomorrow to verify that everything loads fine and for performance checks. I really would like to add parking spot numbers on the apron - but there is always this z-flicker problem preventing nice additions...  :-\

There are also a few known issues based on FSX bugs or shortcomings:

- Nose in parked AI will push back some feet also there is no push back required. At some places it gets to close for comfort with fences and buildings -> FSX bug

- Arriving aircraft will always park nose out, no way to make them turn into the correct position -> FSX shortcoming

- Cloud and building 'clipping/vanishing' also affects apron night lightening. It can happen that at certain angles they disappear -> FSX bug

- Z-Flicker problem on the heli pads / no aircraft shadow on the heli pads. I am still wresting with this issue -> FSX bug

With everything else i am quiet satisfied and hope you all will have a lot of fun to explore the stunning Gold Coast out of YRED  :). The next project is waiting - YHBA is half done and in perfect small/medium GA range to Redcliffe.

Cool shots mango ,,  The dude in the suit  ::)

What about some boardies and a ORBX tshirt for us in the sunny SE Queensland    8)

  cheers , Johnno

That would be nice indeed, but i have to use the default peeps. There is a t shirt guy from a mission, but he has a walking animation. Looks plain stupid when you place it static  ;D.

RTM_B is uploaded - just waiting for three green  :). I set the tower view for us R/C fans. So you can fly f.e. the Robinson like a model heli (just zoom out a bit). You have to try that, it's really fun (first pic)  ;). Btw, the Extras you see only when you have Acceleration installed.

Unfortunately with default traffic there won't show up much AI (if any). I use MyTrafficX which got plenty of flight plans for YRED (pic 2). Can't wait until the OrbX GA traffic gets released, that will be a blast !
