soulmaril
Hi Everybody, I have seen that many people have a common issue about getting black textures around the landclass. If this is the same for you, here is my solution. It works 100 %. I just dont know what triggers the problem and why orbx dont announce a patch yet. 1. Open windows explorer or "run..." and paste the line below %allusersprofile%\Microsoft\FSX it will take you to the path where ever your scenery.cfg file is. 2. Find "scenery.cfg" file. open the file with notepad or similar. Find the section below. 3. The original scenery.cfg file has this. ------------------------------ [Area.001] Title=Default Terrain Texture_ID=1 Local=Scenery\World Layer=1 Active=TRUE Required=TRUE ------------------------------ ...and after any ORBX install it become like this. ------------------------------ [Area.001] Title=Default Terrain Local=Scenery\World Layer=1 Active=TRUE Required=TRUE ------------------------------ revert back to original by adding Texture_ID=1 4. Save your file 5. Run FSX. Thats all.
John Venema
Thanks for the solution, but it does not happen to everybody (in fact you're probably the first), that's why we don't need to release a patch
soulmaril
Yes that is true. It is not common to all, just some unlucky guys.
Holger Sandmann
Hi there, actually, this issue haunted us briefly three years (!) ago. There was a problem with an earlier version of the ftxconfigurator.exe that had problems with non-standard characters in the scenery.cfg and, occasionally, with the first block of entries; see http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/5227-global-scenery-disruption-after-install-of-gold-and-green-sceneries/page__view__findpost__p__44297 This was resolved long before the release of PNW though so the question is how you managed to install an outdated version of ftxconfigurator.exe? Or, perhaps, it's something else that creates the issue... Cheers, Holger
soulmaril
I am using a Turkish windows7 and I have sceneries with Turkish special letters. I assume it is it.
