Patrick Scharnowski
How do they manage to do this? With quite a headwind, of course. Remember: aircraft move in relation to the moving air mass. A Cub flying at 40 knots into a 30 knot headwind only has a ground speed of 10 knots. And when the headwind is as strong as their final approach speed they virtually can land vertically like an elevator (or helicopter ).
