NSW Tour Leg 35: Scone to Forster-Wallis Island

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,

And all I ask is an aeroplane and a VOR to steer her by,

Rudder and Stick and the wind's song and the white wings shaking,

And a grey mist on the sea's face and an ILS awaiting.

I love Google Maps sometimes! Just to the right of the red Danger Area, you can clearly(!) see written on the map "Name Not Clear"!

We pick up this leg as we pass over Lake Glenbawn, shortly after take off.

This is Barrington Tops National Park. It is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia, and World heritage listed.

It's also been known as "The Devil's Triangle", from the large number of aircraft that have crashed here over the years.

Fortunately we didn't crash, and eventually reach the coast.

That's the cross-runway on the nose. We will be landing right to left.

Wallis Island, and the town of Forster beyond. The smaller twin town of Tuncurry is to the left of the inlet (next pic)

The Forster Keys are a haven for wildlife and water sports.

Regatta Island at left, is a nature reserve.

And so we're parked up near the long grass. If you want to find it, Forster is about halfway between Cessnock and Port Macquarie. More soon...

Thanks chaps - glad you liked it. I have a really good poke around in the next flight. This is a superbly done photoreal area, and the water textures in particular just have to be seen to be believed. Didn't quite get as far as Seal Rocks though.
