John Lovell
This has to be one of the most pleasurable flights I have done in PNW.. I think when many elements come together so perfectly, in harmony... Those being, PNW, Starks Twin Oaks, Walter Suttons and REX Overdrive Taxiing to the runway at Starks Twin Oaks, such a beautiful airfield. This makes a perfect companion for Walter's Airfield as it's only a short hop... but a very scenic one Being a small family run airfield, they still have their rules as the notice board clearly states [img width=1121 height=700]http://www.fsfiles.org/imagehost/uploads/1284472004.jpg We depart out to the south from this airfield as runway slopes downhill.... and also because a certain resident of this airfield don't like departing aircraft buzzing over her house! [img width=1121 height=700]http://www.fsfiles.org/imagehost/uploads/1284408506.jpg Passing over Starks, we head out to Walter Sutton's, about 40 miles away [img width=1121 height=700]http://www.fsfiles.org/imagehost/uploads/1284437694.jpg Out to the East, we can see Portland in the distance [img width=1121 height=700]http://www.fsfiles.org/imagehost/uploads/1284416026.jpg Just crossing the Hood river and state line between Oregon and Washington. We will cross Ridgefield National Wildlife refuge and be looking out for Tum Tum hill [img width=1121 height=700]http://www.fsfiles.org/imagehost/uploads/1284457682.jpg Got the Tum Tum hill in our sites.... gear down, now looking for the grass strip.. Quite a tough one! [img width=1121 height=700]http://www.fsfiles.org/imagehost/uploads/1284433446.jpg Gotta try and weave between those tress there [img width=1121 height=700]http://www.fsfiles.org/imagehost/uploads/1284441890.jpg Made it!.....gonna park up in that empty hanger over there [img width=1121 height=700]http://www.fsfiles.org/imagehost/uploads/1284401825.jpg Such a nice morning, would be a shame to end the tour there... may as well explore this area a little [img width=1121 height=700]http://www.fsfiles.org/imagehost/uploads/1284385925.jpg Local farming community, but they are very welcoming to the odd visitor... as long as we don’t leaving our plastic water bottles behind and have respect for the great wide open [img width=1121 height=700]http://www.fsfiles.org/imagehost/uploads/1284425141.jpg [img width=1121 height=700]http://www.fsfiles.org/imagehost/uploads/1284471188.jpg Everything perfect about this picture... I just stop in awe with the amazing detail of the birds and sounds, almost as real as being there.... also, the best Cirrus I have seen... thank you REX Overdrive!
