Patrick Scharnowski
Here you go. That's the only FSX Flying M place in the PNW coverage area (OR05, Yamhill, Oregon), so I hope I got the right one
teecee
Richard Goldstein did a magical Flying M in fs2000.. here is a link to the real thing.. it would be very nice if someone were to do a payware on this well known strip. It's an interesting exercise to recreate the flight described in the link. Teecee. http://www.omen.com/f/flyingm.html
Patrick Scharnowski
Compared to the real thing there aren't enough trees around in the PNW version. Oh, and I think that place is closed now. p.s.: oops, landed and took off in the wrong direction! One way only (landing 25, take off 7)
teecee
Nope.. Still open according to "US Runway finder". As far as the trees are concerned, been a little clear felling.. so what?.Teecee. http://www.runwayfinder.com/airport/or05/
Guest Northwest Pilot
I thought that I heard a while back before the release of PNW that this little airfield might be done. Maybe it will be another one of those great "budget line" airfields developed in the future.
sbflyer
According to the Flying M facebook page the strip is open again as of May 2010, but its only 1100 feet long. The property was sold/split. The pond at the east end of the strip was drained and the west end was closed due to the split. I could swear I saw a youtube video of a landing on the real-life shortened strip, but can't find it now.
briansommers
mmm.. yeah leaves a lot to be desired from the georenderer days. man I use to fly into that airport every sunday early morning from krnt. I would simulate a brunch flyin at the ranch every week. then when I'd get back from church, I would return the passengers back to krnt. I flew this area literally for years back in day (flightsim of course, not real) I just got into Australia a bit, but now... oh man "home" beckons! I'm thinking of starting a VA in this area... don't know..
