Maybe a bug in Orbx Central - Scenery.cfg

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Had a quick search and can't see anything on this so thought I'd post.

Orbx was the first thing I installed, so it was a clean scenery.cfg. However, it looks like it jumped the sequence in layer numbers causing issues for other scenery add-ons.

See how the area numbers and layers are the same before the Orbx entries, and then Orbx starts and for some reason it does a +2 on the layer number. Not a problem in itself, until......

[Area.130]
Title=Bathymetry
Local=Scenery\Bathymetry
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=130

[Area.131]
Title=Sharurah
Local=Scenery\Cities\Sharurah
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=131

[Area.132]
Title=Orbx!OPENLC_zBASE
Local=Orbx\FTX_OLC\OLC_AA
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=134

[Area.133]
Title=Orbx!OPENLC_NAMERICA1
Local=Orbx\FTX_OLC\OLC_NA1
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=135

You install another addon, which makes the assumption the area numbers and layers should still be in sync and this then causes a duplicate layer error when you try and change airports in the sim.

[Area.157]
Title=FTX_AA_LOWI
Local=Orbx\FTX_EU\FTX_AA_LOWI
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=159

[Area.158]
Title=FTXAA_ORBXLIBS
Local=Orbx\FTX_AU\FTXAA_ORBXLIBS
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=160

[Area.159]
Title=Menorca_Evo_Terrain
Local=Ecosystem\aerosoft\Menorca_Terrain
Active=TRUE
Layer=159
Required=FALSE

[Area.160]
Title=Menorca_Evo_Airport
Local=Ecosystem\aerosoft\Menorca_Airport
Active=TRUE
Layer=160
Required=FALSE

[Area.161]
Title=SIMWINGS_LIB
Local=Ecosystem\aerosoft\SIMWINGS_LIB
Active=TRUE
Layer=161
Required=FALSE

I corrected the new scenery by +2'ing their layer numbers as well, but thought I'd point it out as a potential bug

Cheers,

Mark

I can confirm this. After starting to add Orbx products, the area number and the layer number started to mismatch.

In my case it started with Area.003, see below.

[General]
Title=Prepar3D Scenery
Description=Prepar3D Scenery Areas Data
Clean_on_Exit=TRUE

[Area.001]
Title=Default Terrain
Local=Scenery\World
Active=TRUE
Required=TRUE
Layer=1

[Area.002]
Title=Default Scenery
Local=Scenery\BASE
Active=TRUE
Required=TRUE
Layer=2

[Area.003]
Title=0000 Base
Local=Scenery\0000
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=11

I don't know if this is a problem. I have no other add-ons installed so far.

Regards,

Rainer O.

Hello,

have you installed anything using the add-ons method?

Secondly, what do you see in your in-game scenery library?

Hi Nick,

for me, no I hadn't at that point. It was a fresh install of V5 and then I dropped all of the Orbx in. After that, I installed some UK2000 airports, which weren't affected as they used the Add-on method and then the Menorca one which is when I found the issue.

Do you see a disorder in your scenery library or a problem in the simulator?

No, it didn't actually cause an issue with Orbx itself, but it did cause every other scenery addon installed afterwards that uses the scenery.cfg still to fail due to the sequencing being out.

Here are some screenshots.

Then lots of Base ones and this at the end

Hi Nick,

I have no other add-ons installed. Only the following Orbx add-ons.

Global Base

openLC Europe

openLC North America

openLC Africa

Germany North

Germany South

Libraries

Inside the simulator the scenery.cfg looks fine. No gaps or any disorder.

Until now I can not see any problems. The landscape looks as it should.

Thanks, that's why there is a gap in the Layer numbers.

It is not a problem.

Hi Nick,

I've installed another couple of add-ons and they're all failing due to the sequencing. Are you sure it's not an issue? I now have to keep going in and manually adjusting them.

I've found a scenery.cfg called scenery.cfg.backup-Orbx

and it confirms nothing was installed before. The last entry was in sync so it looks like the Orbx system was the one that broke the sequence. The last entries were:

[Area.129]
Title=Bathymetry
Local=Scenery\Bathymetry
Layer=129
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE

[Area.130]
Title=Sharurah
Local=Scenery\Cities\Sharurah
Layer=130
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE

[Area.131]
Title=Randolph_AFB
Local=Scenery\Cities\KRND_Randolph_AFB
Layer=131
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE

Then Orbx started with:

[Area.132]
Title=Orbx!OPENLC_zBASE
Local=Orbx\FTX_OLC\OLC_AA
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=134

Cheers,

Hello,

the trouble with having two customers at the same time in one topic is that

each can misread the answers as being for them when they are not.

There is not a problem with this:

I don't know why two of your UK 2000 airports should be separate from the main block.

Did you set your insertion point below the last of them?

Ahh right, sorry it was getting confusing. No, they're all done by the new addon method, so they're not in the scenery.cfg. There's an .XML for each, I'm not sure why they're down there either. I'll investigate and see what I can find.

Found It @Nick Cooper, for some reason, those two odd looking UK2000 airports had managed to take low layer numbers, despite not having a choice to insert them anywhere during the install. I've no idea how they managed to do it.

All of the add-on XMLs for UK2000 use layer 950, but these two had assigned themselves 132 and 133. Our missing layers.

No wonder Orbx central thought they were already taken and skipped them. I've reset the lot now back to how it should be.

Thanks for your help.
