Global BASE Pack does not migrate to library...

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Global Base Pack does not migrate to library.

When I click on migrate to library, I get the warning message. I click on Start Migration but nothing happens.

Orbx Central v4.1.5 of Monday, April 13, 2020.

I did a test with Global Trees HD and OpenLC Europe, it works normally except Global BASE pack.

Thank you and Regards,

Richard.

EDIT: Please move this post to PREPAR3D® V4.x Support Forum. My mistake. Thank you.

Hello Richard,

you cannot migrate Global Base to an Orbx Central Library because that would leave the simulator

without any default textures in its own folder and it would not run.

You can install Global base into an Orbx Central Library.

In fact, your topic concerns Orbx Central.

Hello Nick,

So, I install Global Base directly in P3Dv4.5?

Sorry, I'm not sure to understand.

Thank you.

Richard.

I second this question - I understand that we need to install Global Base again so that we would have 2 separate installs.

Is that correct understanding?

&

I would also appreciate knowing whether two installations would be required ?

After reinstalling Global Base to a library, what happens to the original installation that could not be migrated ?

I guess this also begs the question as to why the option to migrate Global Base to a library is actually available if it cannot be achieved ?

Regards

Hello,

1. Global base is a set of replacement textures.

When it is installed into the simulator, it replaces most of the default scenery textures.

If it was to be migrated, this means moved, then the default simulator would have no

textures and probably would not run.

2. When installed, Global Base adds very little to the size of the simulator folder,

because the textures are replacing existing textures, not adding to them.

3. If you already have Global Base installed into the simulator there is absolutely no

point in also installing it into an Orbx Central Library.

4. as this is the only product that this applies to, I expect that it was not considered

to be worthwhile to reconfigure the whole of Orbx central to allow for the removal of

one Migrate tab.

Thank you for the clarification, Nick.

Just one more question, if and when I ever upgrade to P4DV5, would I then get the option to install Global Base in an external library as the sim would still have its default textures in place, or can these only reside within the sim itself ?

Forgive me Nick but I don't understand.

Actually, I've got it set up in D:\Orbx Library\p3dv5.
Please, just two questions:
1-My installation is correct?
2-Would I have or can I install it directly in D:\Lockheed Martin Prepar3D v5?

Thank you and Regards,

Richard.

Hello Richard,

if you have already installed Global base inside the simulator folder,

then there is no need and no point in installing it again.

You would be replacing Global base textures with Global Base textures.

If you have not yet installed Global Base at all, then indeed you can choose

whether to install Global Base inside or outside the simulator folder.
