tubavet
I know I'm a few years behind but am taking the opportunity of moving from Windows 7 to 10 and moving from FSX boxed to FSX Steam (was going to move to P3d but on hold pending MSFS2020). I am aware of having to remove all traces of FSX boxed including registry entries. I'm wondering if I need to reinstall my ORBX sceneries, re-add to the scenery library or does ORBX Central do something magic Thanks Phillip
Nick Cooper
Hello Philip, the easiest way to update your OS is to let the Windows 10 installer do it, then you will lose nothing and have no need to uninstall or reinstall any of your flight simulator software. tubavet
Hello Nick, Thank you for your response. I have updated to Windows 10 but have some issues with FSX since upgrading with random crashes. I was looking to change to FSX Steam (which I boiught a £5 copy in case needed) as designed to work on more modern software. Phillip
Nick Cooper
Hello Philip, FSX-SE is the same software as FSX with a few default settings reduced to make it appear to work better than FSX. It's your choice of course but it is not redesigned at all.
Zigarten
I think he's asking about re-installing his scenery now that he's Win 10 and FSX-SE, a topic I'm interested in as well. I have the same scenario
Nick Cooper
Hello. Let's stick with FSX for now. It does need the UIAutomationCore.dll fix to work with Windows 10, something that ships with FSX-SE. I have attached a copy of the file in case you have not done this. It goes into the FSX root folder. You will probably also benefit from installing FSUIPC, if you have not already done so, the free unregistered version will do. UIAutomationCore.dll
tubavet
Thanks Nick, I do have UIAutomationCore and registered FSUIPC. I will work on boxed but if end up on moving to FSX SE, do I need to reinstall ORBX scenery or just re-add to the scenery library? Phillip
Nick Cooper
Hello Philip, you should be able to use all the same files for FSX-SE as you did for FSX.
