I'm using Roads and Rivers of Victoria but I only use the mesh; everything else is turned off. Works fine.

Cheers,

Noel.

Er no, you're actually using "Mountains of Victoria" if all you are using is the mesh. There are two seperate products:

- Mountains of Victoria - this is a 20m resolution mesh, which works very well with FTX

- Roads and Rivers of Victoria - this is a topo-based vector product which will clash with FTX, since both products create custom coastlines, roads and rivers. R&RoV has better definition of rivers and contains a lot more water bodies such as dams in farms and smaller lakes, but unless you know which of the BGLs in the product to isolate and make it work with FTX, you will get duplicate roads, rivers and coastlines. It may be worth me asking Christian to make an FTX patch for it so the two work more seamlessly together.

Would really appreciate you doing that John - it would be great to be able to get the absolute best from both products. Hopefully Christian will be able to help.

Cheers

If somebody gets R&R for use with FTX please let me know what you think.  Its costs quite a bit more than FTX its self, and considering it appears to mostly provide redundant data I'm interested to know what kind of results you get with it.  I'm mainly interested in it for the water data, which it seems to have a lot more of.

I've got the Red Baron mesh which really steps things up, though its a bit overpriced in my eyes for such limited coverage.  I'd recommend it anyway just because FTX is the best thing going for FSX.

If anybody wants to see how the 20m mesh compares to the default and the Holgermesh I did a comparison right here:
