Tue Earth Netherlands update crashes computer!?!?

Recommended Posts

Hello Orbx staff,

I have just installed the update for True Earth Netherlands and now my P3Dv4 keeps crashing?!?!

I can get the main menu and when I select Aircraft, Airport, Weather and then Time and Season....the loading window moves to the top left hand corner of my screen, tells me its at 96% -which is VERY strange for it takes a while just to get past 6%- it then gives me no screen at all then the computer crashes!?!? ie: "P3dv4 has stop working"

Please how do i fix this please for P3D was working just find before I installed the True earth Netherlands update!?!?

Cheers,

Tim.

Hello Nick,

Thank you for your reply.  After my issue I decided to "un-install" True Earth Netherlands" via FTX Central to see what happened....I still get the issue?

So i can not deselect those entries you mentioned because i have uninstalled them.
However, I am still getting the crashing issue?

Cheers,
Tim

Uninstalling any product to test if it is the cause of a problem when the

intention is to replace it is a complete waste of time and bandwidth.

Simply unticking the scenery library entry of any scenery add on

disables it completely.

Try renaming your scenery.cfg file.

Restart P3D and let it build a new one.

Add nothing to it.

See if it then will start.

If it does start, close it again and run FTX Central.

Make sure that your scenery insertion points are correct

and wait for it to activate Orbx scenery.

Try P3D again.

Pardon me....I was not aware of that and I was just trying to trouble shoot because my P3Dv4 has gone pair shaped because of your update!?!?

Thanks, I am sure you were but it is quite important to know that

there is no need to uninstall 76 GB of scenery just to test if it is

the cause of a problem.

I am posting this more often in the hope that customers will not be upset but

rather simply accept the advice.

More importantly for the future, if this kind of practice remains widespread,

it could result in a limit on the number of downloads for all customers, to the

great inconvenience of all.

For what's it worth...I found the download and install of the True Earth Netherlands update to be one of the fastest downloads I have en counted...!?
I did not experience ANY of the "Taking ages", "hanging on 99%" etc problems that a lot of people had been posting of late!? I thought this very strange indeed.

I will give your tip -posted above- a go and report back tomorrow.  Its getting late and i am a little tired and frustrated.....    Till tomorrow.

Thank you again Nick.

Hello Nick.

PHEW!!!!! I have P3Dv4 all back  up and running as it should.
I will hold off for a while before i attempt to install True Earth Netherlands and its update again....

Would you have any idea why this happened?  Also, could I expect it to happen again on any other FTX updates?   I have never had this issue before.
