Matt Piotrowski
I installed orbx global and my coastlines look terrible. They are all jagged and just looks bad. Is this normal and how do I fix it? I don't have vector installed. This picture is off the coast of Alaska.
petfy
Others more knowledgeable than me are invited to respond. The FSX (and thus P3D?) coastline and land vector information was not exact, thus sometimes you would get coastlines proceeding inland and cutting into mountains forming cliffs on the coastline. The rendering engine would do it's best to cope with this adnominally and it typically results in zig-zag cliffs. I presume that is what is happening here. The cheapest way is to accept this limitation and put up with it. Other than that you have to align mesh data with coastal vector data, by obtaining land form mesh and / or vector data. Even then it greatly reduces, but does not totally reduce this phenomenon.
Doug Sawatzky
Hi Matt, welcome to the forums FTX Global base has no affect on coastlines, but Vector does. Cheers Doug
Matt Piotrowski
Thank you. So the coast lines should look like that?
Doug Sawatzky
Yes, they look normal, a lot of default cliff sides on some areas of some coastlines look like that.
