Beer Citizen
Honestly? I payed for and downloaded Meigs and have excitement for all airports to move over to XP!!. But I can't land my Helicopter on any building I fly right through? Even Freeware scenery such as San Fran has solid objects. Is this going to be the case with all future releases? This depends on weather or not I keep buying ORBX or just ditch XP for DCS World which I just pre-ordered Dubai map, everything is solid there. Tony Wroblewski
The simulator supports it, however like anything, there is a cost involved with making buildings and trees solid, so generally it should be used sparingly unless there really is a need to use it. It's fine to make a few buildings solid, but making the entire city solid would negatively impact performance.
Beer Citizen
Hmmm, it's a shame, the highly detailed city's in DCS have every object solid and it performs well. I'll still look forward to ORBX contributions in XP11 as they do some Aussie airports I can't even get freeware.
Rodneyprice
Having all solid objects may result in extra rendering which costs extra CPU and GPU usage , then you would have some complaining that the frame rates are bad . For the most all dont land on top of buildings...
Beer Citizen
Thanks for your wisdom but as a Helicopter flyer and coming from DCS I want to be able to die if a rotor clips a tree or anything, flying through a city on XP-11 is ridiculous when you can't hit a thing. But once again well done to ORBX for the ports and i'm about to press buy on Broome. Can't wait for YBCS bring on home!!
