papaschild
Hey all! could someone please tell me if Cache ing of the scenery improves performance? So if i cache FTX + the Oceania and Australian areas in the scenery library, would that improve my performance in terms of frame rates and loading times? thanks heaps enjoy your flight. Holger Sandmann
Hello papaschild, others will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the caching option is only useful for those who chose a partial installation of FSX, which means that not all of the scenery folders are permanently stored on your HD but rather remain on the distribution DVDs. If you'd use FSX in that manner then the sim would have to constantly access your DVD drive, which is hard on the drive and much slower than your hard disk. Thus, you have the option to select caching, which, during the first time the sim loads a scenery, stores those files in a temporary location on your HD. In short, if you have a full installation of FSX then caching makes no difference and, in fact, probably gets ignored. Cheers, Holger
