manuver
Dear Sirs, Every time I try to finish the installation of global vectors I get the following message Unable to locate the scenery.cfg file: Unable to locate the scenery.cfg file After this I can see Applying Orbx regions like working. As soon as I click OK Applying Orbx regions. Everything stops and I cannot finish the install of Vectors. This is preventing me to configure Global Vectors which I believe is not fully installed as it does not show in the Scenery library screen. I do not feel global vectors is fully installed as there are features not working such as frozen water in winter and the roads are very blurry. What can I do? I have been looking in blogs but I cannot find a solution to this. I can not continue buying orbx products as long as I cannot solve this problem, as if have been trying installing it several times since I bought it and I do not want to mess my simulator anymore. Please tell me what more information you need from my part in order to find a solution. I really like your products and willing to install everything you create, but I can not waste more weeks trying to fix this issue with the scenery.cfg and the full installation of vectors. Nick Cooper
Hello and welcome to the forums. Thank you for the comprehensive report but I don't see which simulator you are using, is it FSX Steam Edition?
manuver
Hi, as in the screen picture I sent initially it specifies FSX SE, so I am using Flight simulator X Steam Edition. I never had FSX installed in this computer before as everything is brand new dedicated only to the simulator. I have two internal drives C and D, FSX Stream is on drive D. I have already used FS_Registry_Repair.exe and fsx_reg_utility to check if there was any issue about that. Thanks you and regards. Manuel
Nick Cooper
Thanks, I see the FSXSE at the top of the FTX Central screenshot now. The most common problem is that the scenery.cfg is in one location and FTX Central is looking for it in another. When FSX Steam is the only simulator installed, for the purposes of the FTX installers, it should be treated as if it were FSX Disk Edition and the FSX installer version used. Please check your ProgramData\Microsoft folder for folders named FSX and FSX-SE and report back.
manuver
Thanks Nick. I have checked in my drive C and it has ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX it does not show FSX-SE, the same applies for drive D it only shows FSX ,as I installed FSX steam in June , probably they have corrected this name issue and it only shows FSX and NOT FSX-SE Regards Manuel

Nick Cooper
Hello Manuel, Yes, there is indeed something wrong with the forum but as it is both night and the weekend where the repair man lives, it may not be fixed straight away. I think that as you have installed the FSXSE version of FTX Central, it is looking for the scenery.cfg file in ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX-SE, which of course does not exist. You might be able to fix this by using the FTX Registry Fix tool from the freeware page to remove the FSX-SE registry entry and replace it with an FSX registry key pointing to the same location. manuver
please find attached the only FSX-SE I have in drive C. In drive D there is none.
Nick Cooper
Yes, there is only one, I had thought that I didn't need to explain, the full path to the scenery.cfg file is C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX, FTX Central is no doubt looking for the scenery.cfg file at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX-SE, which you have told me does not exist. If you use the utility to remove the FSX Steam Edition registry entry and replace it with an FSX Registry entry pointing to the same location, you may make FTX Central look instead for the scenery.cfg file in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX, where it will find it and the error message will go away. manuver
C:\Users\manuv\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX-SE, is the only folder in the whole computer and is seem to be used only by Flyinside

manuver
Ok I used the RegistryFixTool triedto change the path, as my normal path is: D:\Program Files (x86)\steamapps\common\FSX tried to force it to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX which also exists and where a recent Scenery.CFG file is. When I do so it shows the following message ''Could not find simulator we couldn't find the simulator executable file fsx.exe at that location'' the FSX.exe is in the drive D FSX folder but not in drive C. I cannot migrate my simulator to drive C as it is very small and has no space available I tried FTX central and the same message of no scenery.cfg appeared so we are stuck in the same place as in the beginning. I am trying to attach screen pictures but probably due to the server problems I can not do it. Regards
Nick Cooper
No, you have not done what I asked. You should remove the entry for FSX Steam Edition, using the Remove Simulator button under the FSX Steam Edition entry and then add an FSX registry option, at the top of the Fix tool, pointing it to D:\Program Files (x86)\steamapps\common\FSX
manuver
Thanks you so much Nick, sorry I misunderstood you. I did well this time what you told me and the message is gone and it looks as the FTX central is working. No more scenery.cfg missing message. My Scenery screen with ORBX products looks like this now, in this order FTXAA_ORBXLIBS FTX_EU_NOR_05_SCENERY (also 06 07 08, nothing more) ORBX!OPENLC_EUROPE1 Until ORBX!OPENLC_EUROPE10 ORBX!OPENLC_NAMERICA1(only this registry) ORBX!OPENLC_BASE But there is nothing related to Vectors. Do you think these registry’s are ok or something is missing or wrong? Do you think I should reinstall everything now? Can I do it without dis installing, I cannot find a way to dis install. Thank your with your patience, but this thing is making me crazy. Regards
Nick Cooper
If you go to ORBX\Scripts and run FTXConfigurator_VECTOR.exe as an administrator, it will add the Vector scenery library entries for you.
manuver
Thank you soooooooo much Nick!. Without your help I would never have fixed my problems. I re installed Vectors and Norway and run the FTXConfigurator_VECTOR.exe as an administrator. Now everything shows in the scenery library. I have been flying around in Asia specially Phuket area where I live ,Norway and Spain where I used to fly VFR in RW and the changes are astonishing. I could follow every single landmark, mountain, river , road creek etc like in reality. Now it is like a new simulator, a way much better one. Even the FPS have improved. As soon as Open LC Asia is ready here is an eager buyer. Thank very much you again for your patience and expertise. Regards Manuel
