OPEN LC Canada/Alaska - Niagara Falls

Looking at the screenshots from LC Canada, looks great, however, before you release you really should update Niagara Falls to show the Canadian Falls as a horseshoe rather than a straight line.  Obviously an area people will go to and look at and would be nice to have it closer to reality.

As it is a 3 dimensional problem the correction would have to be done with a local hi-res mesh or better with a 3D object (à la Frank Dainese).

Aerosoft has already done this in their US Cities X series. Just google Aerosoft and Niagara, you'll find a perfect rendition of the falls.

I'm not a specialist but I've been learning how to correct a shoreline, for two days, in a scenery I make. In my opinion, the correction could be done with the mesh and correcting the drawing of the shoreline under the water. This is not real water :) but an elevated shoreline covered with a water looking polygon. You just have to curve the shorelines under the water. Now how to curve the foam effect I don't know (yet) ...

Dominique, while you're at it, can you please fix Glen Canyon Dam and the bridge???  Thanks!

I'm a newbie learning the trade by fixing a small area in OpenLC EU Corsica with its airport, the river and the coastline. I've done maybe 85% of the job, let's see if I can finish that up  ;)  ! If I do, I'll go to Southern Europe again or Asia.   Glen Canyon is such a great place ! It deserves better than me   !

Hi guys,

I assume that the default falls were modeled as straight lines because that makes the dynamic effect placement easier; in fact it's not possible to have curved effects of this type (rapidly repeating loops of vertical texture sets to indicate falling water) so they would have to be broken up into many smaller sections, which causes all sorts of issues with synchronization and transparency. It might be possible to represent the falls with other types of effects but that would be something a separate scenery add-on would have to tackle, not a continent-scale landclass add-on.

Cheers, Holger

Hi Holger

I discovered the US Cities Niagara Falls animation of the two falls were affected by the dynamic effect of the OpenLC Canada/Alaska, how can we delete that for the two falls from OpenLC so that two will not overlapped to make a quiet bad looking effect..

Cheers

Terry
