Will the real Central Colorado Regional Airport please stand up!

This morning I went to Go To Airport in FSX and typed in Buena Vista.  That's the Central Colorado Regional Airport.

I found two entries for the same airport, KAEJ and 7V1.

I went to AFX and found this:

for 7V1: Layer 231_FTX_AA_Global_Airports ADE_FTC_FTXG_7V1,BGL

for KAEJ: Layer 231_FTX_AA_Global_Airports ADE_FTX_FTXG_KAEJ.BGL

Going to the internet I found the real airport listed under both ICAO designators.

Going to the Vector files I found FTX_VECTOR_AEC\Scenery 7V1 is inactive.

Going to FTX_VECTOR_APT\Scenery 7V1 is not listed.

7V1 is in the disabled column in the FTX Vector Configurator.

How can I prevent 7V1 from showing up in the Go To Airport listing?

Hi Noel,

you can't. Any airport that is defined in the default scenery files cannot be individually removed. In this case, the default Central California Regl is listed as 7V1; it's part of a default file (APX19180.bgl, in \scenery\0202\scenery) that includes facility data for many more airports in the same area meaning you can't deactivate that file without losing all the other airports as well.

I suspect that the Global Airport's addon 7V1/KAEJ pair is coded such that the 7V1 file is just a stub file that removes most of the original data while the KAEJ file is the full airport facilities file using the new ICAO. Again, though, it's not possible to get rid of 7V1 in the Go To Airport listing so it's just a work-around that allows for the search menu, GPS, etc. to find the new ICAO.

Cheers, Holger
