tyda0501
I get this message after clicking on the extracted ".exe" global base file..."Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item" I have tried every imaginable solution including disabling my anti-virus. I have had FTX global installed on prepar3d previously with no problems but just uninstalled everything and am reinstalling everything fresh. Any ideas? Thanks! Wolter van der Spoel
are we talking about, fsX, fsX-SE or P3D ? basically it seems that your files are write protected, so open the exe for the program by right click and de -select the ticked boxes for read only also make sure that you take ownership of the main folder where the Sim resides => http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753659.aspx
tyda0501
This is a prepar3d reinstall. I tried the ownership strategy on several files and nothing worked. The error message shows a path of "C:USER\Myname\Downloads\OrbxFTXGlobalBASE130\OrbxFTXGlobalBASE130.exe" I'm not sure if the problem lies in there. Thanks for your help. Nick Cooper
Perhaps if you extract (unzip) the files from the download to a location outside the Users folder the problem may go away. You could try creating a folder, say C:\Unzipped and unzip the files to there. Have you managed to successfully install any other FTX products, since your re-install of P3D? tyda0501
Well I fixed it! Turns out taking ownership worked as long as I completely disabled my anti-virus. Thanks for everybodys help.
