We would like to provide you with an update on the recently released Microsoft World Update: United Kingdom, and how it affects our Orbx Landmarks London City Pack product.
The Microsoft update includes all new photogrammetry for central London, along with several dozen new custom models of landmarks, like London Eye and Buckingham Palace.
What does that mean for our customers that have purchased and installed the Orbx Landmarks London City Pack product?
In its current form, Landmarks London conflicts with the Microsoft update due to overlapping landmark buildings and our terraforming files. Thus, you will see duplicate buildings, as well as missing areas of photogrammetry buildings, among other inconsistencies.
We are currently working on a separate pack which will be fully compatible with the Microsoft World Update: UK. This will be free for customers who have previously purchased the London City pack.
Once this pack is released (in a week or less in Orbx Central and possibly a little longer on the MS Marketplace as we are dependent on their approval queue), there will be two products: one for the non-UK update and one for the UK update. You will then be able to activate one or the other, depending on whether you have the UK update running or not.
In addition, we are planning a comprehensive content update in a few weeks’ time to add some exciting new landmarks to both packs.
If purchasing the pack as a new customer, you will be able to choose either product, though both will be included in the same price, ie. you can get both, pay once, and decide which one you want to run.
In the meantime, if you want to deactivate the Orbx London pack, you can do one of the following:
- If installed via OrbxDirect, uninstall in Orbx Central; or
- Uninstall inside MSFS from Profile>Content Manager (search for 'London")

We’ve been receiving a tonne of valuable feedback from beta users in our Discord (over 1,000 Discord members so far!). If you haven’t received your invite yet, don’t worry, we’re sending more every day. If you haven’t already, it’s not too late to register for the beta!
Here’s a short update on some things we’ve been working on recently:
VATSIM ATC
When flying using an online network like VATSIM, it’s important to know which controllers are online, and if you’re in their airspace.We’ve integrated VATSIM’s ATC coverage, along with the latest FIR/UIR definitions, to give you a live look at the network.
In addition to seeing airspace displayed on the map, you can also click on an airport with active controllers, to see when they logged on, and their ATIS.
This isn’t the end of our ATC integration. We’re looking at supporting more online networks, and adding some other helpful indicators to help you know when an ATC will likely be online for a particular airport.
2D/3D paths
One of the most common requests throughout the beta process was having the option to display flights and their paths as 2D lines that change colour based on altitude. Because the Earth is flat in Volanta, if you were taxiing at a high elevation airport, your aircraft would appear to be floating over the terrain. You can toggle this quickly from map settings.
Challenges
The challenge area of Volanta has been undergoing some significant updates too. A lot of this is behind the scenes work, allowing us to easily create challenges based on real-world procedures. Some of the new challenges include the RNAV-Z RWY 23 at NZQN, as well as the RNAV W RWY 02R into SBRJ.These challenges are just a sample of what’s to come. More challenges and achievements will be added as development progresses!

Our development efforts haven’t ended there. We’ve made vast improvements to various areas in Volanta. Some other highlights:-
Previous flight paths: your past flights from the current session are displayed on the map. After you’ve finished all of your flights for the day, it’s nice to see an overview of them all on the map. This can be toggled on/off in the map settings.

Better tracking: our flight tracking is now more robust than ever before. Time spent in Prepar3D’s menus are no longer counted towards your flight time. In X-Plane, we now automatically detect the aircraft’s registration if it is present in the livery folder name.

Discord rich presence: with both idle and active states, you can show your current flight in Discord. This is just the beginning of our integration with Discord - there are a lot of possibilities in the future, stay tuned.

Previous flight paths: your past flights from the current session are displayed on the map. After you’ve finished all of your flights for the day, it’s nice to see an overview of them all on the map. This can be toggled on/off in the map settings.

We are delighted to unveil the next Norwegian destination from Finn Hansen and companion Jakub Łukaszewski - Sandefjord Torp Airport!
(ENTO) Torp Airport is a major Norwegian airport, located on the west side of the Oslofjord. It is linked with Oslo Gardermoen airport, serving mostly low-cost and charter carriers flying to destinations across Europe. Regular visitors include Wizzair, KLM, Ryanair and Widerøe. On site is also the European Helicopter Center: Educating future helicopter pilots, Pilot Flight Academy for fixed wing education, as well as Widerøe and others' maintenance hangars. Way up in the northern corner of the airport lies the local flying club - Sandefjord flyklubb.

FlyTampa YSSY v2 for P3Dv4 and v5 is now also available on OrbxDirect.
Note that this version will use the Control Panel functionality of Orbx Central and not their configurator. Also, the FT Libraries will also be installed and for FlyTampa customers of other airports there will be a doubling up of these libraries. This does not have any impact to the sim.

We are excited to announce KHVN Tweed-New Haven will soon be available for Microsoft Flight Simulator!
Developed by Jordan Gough, this is the largest Orbx airport in the North-Eastern USA. Tweed-New Haven is the second major airport in the state of Connecticut. Located only a 15-20 minute flight from the centre of Manhattan and short hop to Boston, KHVN is the perfect stopover point for trips between the two cities. Located in a massive photogrammetry area, the entire city of New Haven is a sensational flight for the low and slow junkie, and fantastic visual circling approach from the north for the heavy haulers.
New to KHVN is a completely reworked custom ground poly, high resolution texture work and fully functional ground services.

Developer Andrea Hegi shifts his sights to Europe with his recreation of Samedan Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
This airport offers some exciting and challenging approaches and is especially busy during the winter months. As a popular ski resort in the Swiss Alps during the winter season, a vast number of general aviation traffic and private corporate jets frequent the beautiful airport.
Situated in the heart of the Engadin valley, you can expect unsettled winds, low-visibility and plenty of turbulence. Even the most experienced of pilots will find landing at the 5,600ft above sea-level airport tough especially with the the weather effects of Microsoft Flight Simulator.
