  1. HI have been having great success with p3d v5.3, as some of my screen shots have demonstrated. However, flying over the Tampa Bay region I discovered a real mess.  I have seen similar anomalies like this elsewhere.  For example, This is just after TO from KGYY.  How can I correct this. Thanks

    Hello Sherman,

Lockheed Martin vastly improved the vector data in P3D v5.

However, there were some areas that were satill less than perfect, so Orbx

    a version for P3D v5.

If you already own vector, this is free of charge.

It will only be "needed" if one flies in one of the areas that are less then perfect.

Hi Nick, when I added my Orbx files to v5.3, I included Vector...not sure what it is doing, but it does not seem to detract or cause any problems that I have seen.

  3. Frankly, I am amazed at how  v5.3 makes everything look so vivid compared to v5,2. I had a couple of minor hoops to jump through, but on balance setup was easy. These shots were taken in an early morning flight over the Cascades near Mt. Jefferson. I took off in snow, which changed to showers as I flew further N from my starting point at S21. Clouds were heavy at first, but then began to break. I was struck by the light, as well as the sharpness of the Orbx terrain and my aircraft, the DCA livery for Manfred Jahns DC3 v14.

Add on software includes AS, ASCA, Envshade and Envtex.

    Hi Sherm

Maybe it was also a case of needing to go to settings/help and running the sync simulator function in OC for it to work in the external libraries?

No, Doug, I tried all that...I took a look at the scenery order in Lorby and realized something was very wrong with the installation itself..A KSEZ elevator file was second from the bottom between stock terrain and scenery. I uninstalled with OC and reinstalled it directly into the P3D/Orbx folder rather than in the external Orbx library folder on another drive. I could not find a bad listing for KJAC in Lorby, but rather than putz around some more, I uninstalled with OC and reinstalled under P3D. That was basically it. I still do not know why the two sceneries would not work in the external library, where I prefer Orbx scenery when possible to keep from using up space on my rather too small SSD Boot drive where I have P3D. Thanks for asking and for your interest.

  5. Problem solved and all is well. Evidently OC did not handle this installation properly, or perhaps, my placing in an external Orbx folder did not work, even though I have most of my other Orbx files there. Anyway, I uninstalled and reinstalled it in the Orbx p3d default folder... I suggest mods delete this and its companion post.

  7. To Kodiak73 and everyone,

most of us here understand that like it or not, aging is part of a natural process. We all try to make the best of it, knowing with full certainty that we will not last forever. I am not a religious person, but I do believe this:

I do not know if an afterlife exists. But I do know that if I take care of this one, anything after will take care of itself.

    Hello Jack,

I have had both eyes done and my vision is better than it has ever been.

I needed to wear glasses for my whole life and now I don't need them except for close up reading.

I expect that the transformation will be as good for you, I certainly hope so.

Same as Nick…both eyes, one for distance the other for reading. Unfortunately, I have some muscle weakness in one eye for reading, which often tries to shut down. I have been prescribed prism lenses, which do not always solve the problem.

But, to get back to the surgery,  very easy, no pain, quick recovery and my distance vision is perfect. As for close up reading it varies day by day. Today for example, I feel my left eye lid trying to close while working close up on my IPad, as I am doing now. But, it is more annoying than a handicap. Resting my eyes for a few minutes usually brings things back to normal, at least for a while. Fortunately, this has never been an issue on my PC monitor, especially when simming.

    Hi Sherm,

The Orbx Global Wave Effects were included as a manually installed Add-on in the 'Extras' folder  in the PNW Ferries product. We did it this way to avoid the following problem: if the wave effects were added by Orbx Central and the user elected to install within the sim folder, a couple of default files would be over-written. This is a no-no. So although more inconvenient, manually putting the files in your P3D Add-ons folder avoids any such issues.

I'll attach the zip file needed for the waves.  I hope you will take a look at the instructions attached too.

    Global_Orbx_Wave_Effects.zip 73.79 kB · 5 downloads

Instructions for the new wave and surf effects.pdf 150.68 kB · 8 downloads

    Cheers,

THANKS, Larry, I'll give this a try and report back...

The view I saw was generated with ACTIVE SKY. It was seen only by me because I was in just the right spot to see the bolt and quick enough to hit the V screenshot key.
