Sherm, the missing runway markings can be caused by incorrect layering of your sceneries.
I had the issue once, and reordering using the Lorby Add-on Organizer took care of it.
Jorgen
Hi Jorgen,
I completely reordered scenery layers using Lorby, following Orbx paramaters. That did not work. I began thinking about a reinstallation, beginning with the Academic module and client. Fortunately that did the trick and all my runways are back to normal.
Thanks for keeping track and following up on this...

Thanks Nick and good to hear from you.
i do have one more issue, no runway markings on P3D default airports.Orbx purchased and free airports seem ok. I suspect this is a P3D issue, but their forum has been down for the last three days.
i think you solved this same issue for me in the past, but I cannot find your answer in my saved emails.
thanks, best wishes for the holidays. I will let you know via private email the next time we visit UK, but I think that trip is at least a year away.

I agree completely about discord. It’s name fits perfectly, complete chaos and very user unfriendly. Admittedly this might be an age thing but I am
normally an early adopter … but not with Discord 😡

This is a forum I check regularly for any news or comments about P3D….
not much, sorry to say…
and with this week's update to P3D v5.4 there seems to be hardly any reaction here
as a side note, I am traveling until the end of the month so it will be a couple of weeks until I am able install the update and give it a whirl. I wonder if this will prompt developers to get back into action.
OTOH, there still is speculation, especially at the P3D and Avsim forums about whether LM will announce and release V6 T the upcoming SimExpo next month in Houston TX. LM has been saying it will have a booth.

DC3 AIRLINES RECREATES WORLD WAR II AIR ASSAULT
OPERATION VARSITY
Varsity I Sat 25th March
Varsity II Sun 26th March 13
Varsity III Tues 28th March
DC3 AIRWAYS, the only virtual flight simulation airline dedicated to the DC3 and C47 aircraft is repeating its popular recreation of World War II’s last major airborne assault on Nazi Germany.
This was Operation Varsity, which was staged on March 24, 1945, just months before the final surrender of Germany and the end of the war in Europe.
To commemorate this historic event, DCA is inviting all interested simulator pilots to participate.
As he has for previous World War II commemorative flights, DCA VP for Operations Glen Broome has designed every aspect of DCA Varsity, bringing his extensive knowledge of the war into this work, using a variety of tools available to flight sim enthusiasts to bring the project to life again.
As Broome first wrote to fellow pilots while planning the project,
“There are many airfields, in UK and France, from which either paratroop transports or gliders were flown. At some American bases in France the double tow was used for the first time which involved a C47 towing 2 Waco CG-4a gliders. The British used worn out 4 engine bombers to tow many of their gliders, the Horsa, using Halifax and Sterling bombers. Due to the shortage of British Dakota aircraft, the British paratroopers, as in Market Garden, were transported in American C-47's. This operation was the first use of the C-47 in front line operations [i.e. under fire] in Europe, and although it could carry far more paratroopers and could have them exit on both sides [facilitating concentrated dropping ability], it's lack of self sealing tanks caused heavy losses of these aircraft, flying as they did at low level in daylight.
B24's came in 15 minutes after the gliders to drop supplies, flying low as 200 feet. 13 of these were shot down and scores of others badly shot up.”The recreation of Operation Varsity is open to all simulation pilots, regardless of platform, from FS9 up to the more contemporary ones such as P3D, XPlane and MSFS.
For specific information about how to sign up and manage the various details of this project, Broome will offer personal assistance. He can be reached at glenishome@btopenworld.com.
More information and an overview of the project can be found at the DCA website
https://dc3airways.net/special_events/varsity/index.php
Pilots who participate will be linked by voice using Teamspeak3 software, and visually by way of Swift, a server specifically designed for Virtual Flight. Details about how to download and install this and related files will be freely available to all participants.

I saw this update a while ago but don't recall any info regarding what its about
I went back to OC this morning and checked the update log. It has to do with an ADE adjustment...fairly minor.

Hi all,
I went to Orbx Central this morning and found an update for PNW which I downloaded and installed. But, I have no information on what this update involves. If you know, please post. Thanks and BTW it’s good to see Orbx paying a little attention to those of us still active with P3D

DC3 AIRWAYS ANNOUNCES ITS
2022 WORLD RALLY
DC3 Airways, a leader in the Flight Simulation Virtual Airline community, is pleased to announce its 2022 World Rally.
Beginning October 1, participating pilots will have a series of 10 carefully crafted plans to test their flight and navigation skills.
Plans will be created for all the major flight simulation platforms. In addition to vectors and altitude guidance, the plans will include consistent weather through each leg of any given flight plan. This means, that external weather programs will not be necessary to get maximum enjoyment from the flying experience.
In addition to flight plans for each simulation platform, Rally Organizers will include plans for Little Nav Map, a freeware navigation program which has become the gold standard for thousands of simulation pilots.
We recognize that not all flight sim platforms might include each and every waypoint in its data base. But, with the Little Nav Map visualization of flight plans, pilots will be able to navigate with ease by noting upcoming vectors.
Registration is free and open to all simulation pilots. Applicants do not need to be a pilot for DCA. Simply email your request to
https://dc3airways.net/wr/join.php
Further information will be provided as we get closer to the October1 start date, so please check the World Rally link regularly. Check this link for the latest information.
Fight Plan details for each simulation platform can be found in the Download section of the World Rally Page as they become available
Additionally, you can register for the World Rally Forum by clicking the Forum hyperlink and filling out the Registration form.
All questions will be answered through the Forum.
Finally, we hope you will be interested in joining the DCA Pilot Roster as a participating pilot for our many activities and flight plan opportunities.

Given that most developers feel that the world has moved on and there is no longer a viable market for new P3D products, they could thank us for our years of support by making the existing P3D stuff freeware to all their past P3D customers.
This is exactly what Aeroplane Heaven has done with its P3D products, now readily available without cost at their OBRX link.

I think all of your comments are valid. Mine was not directed at Orbx as a specific criticism, but more a comment on how P3D is fading from the interest of commercial developers. All we as users of the platform can do is wait and hope that LM will upgrade the academic and professional versions to something which offers more realistic, even satelitte imagery.
There are some other issues such as TS that create problems for some users, but not for others.
If LM only cares about its military clients then we have little hope. But, if they really see its future as a tandem consumer/educational product....maybe the platform will draw back commercial interest.

I followed an Orbx link on Facebook, advertising staff recommendations for Orbx scenery products. All were for MSFS, not a single P3D in the bunch. How sad that Orbx has evidently given up on our favored sim platform

FL ERROR DULY NOTED..the Connie is from Flight One. I have enough trouble managing that one, much less the more demanding and complicated A2A

DC3 AIRWAYS PLANS RECREATION OF BERLIN AIRLIFT
Beginning Tuesday February 1, 2022, and continuing for a total of 12 events, DC3 AIRWAYS (www. Dc3airways.net) will stage a virtual recreation of The Berlin Airlift. This will be the 6th time in the past several years for this popular air simulation event.
Designed and directed by DCA Vice President Glen Broome these multiplayer sessions will trace the chronology of the 1948/49 Berlin airlift, following the same approach procedures and the same routes used to supply the population of West Berlin following the imposition of the Soviet blockade in June 1948.
A total of 14 airfields will be used, sometimes in fog or thunderstorms, sometimes at night. In sessions involving perhaps 20 or more pilots flying on a Multi Play platform, we will adhere as far as possible to the conditions and events of that period.
Much of the scenery that is now available creates new airfields in near photographic quality, such as EDUG Gatow. In other cases, airfields will be realistically rendered both in terms of buildings and runways/aprons/taxiways. ATC communication will be provided through TeamSpeak and visual communication will be achieved via Swift software, the preferred MP software for VATSIM. Please note that VATSIM is not involved in this project, and membership is not required.
Pilots will deal with weather conditions as they existed for the actual Berlin Airlift flights. Not only that, but enemy flak and fire from Russian fighter planes of the period is likely to be encountered by pilots who stray from the designated air corridors into and out of Berlin.
For those of you who participated before, the challenge will be familiar. For those of you new to DC3 Airways and multiplayer in particular ... welcome ... you will experience flight simulation to a new level in this series both as regards traffic, approaches and weather. It is also a means to commemorate the events and the dedication of all those involved in keeping Berlin free in the troubled times post WWII.
For more information, and to sign up for participation, visit www.Dc3airways.net. You need not be a DCA pilot to participate, though you are always welcome to join us. This event is open to all simulation platforms. Software to take part as well as details on how to join our MP flights for visual and audio communications will be provided.

Frank, with your c-47 skills you are perfect candidate to join the fleet of pilots at www.dc3airways.net. We are heavy on Multi Play flights , training for those who wish it, and general overall comeraderie among pilots from all across the globe. From time to time we have done real life reunions, including one in 2015, when several of us gathered at the WWII Normandy Memorial.
i hope you will take a look at our website.
