Offset between static default and reworked shots may not look too striking but:

In my eyes, the best feature would be missing terrain morphing, which has been with us in all FSX/ESP-based simulators as far as I can think back. If this can indeed be achied, I see a bright future for the technology.

    Precisely!
There's already a lot of popping of terrain in MSFS as it changes LOD when you approach.

If the terrain engine is similar to FSX/ESP sims, increasing the resolution of the mesh would seem to exacerbate the popping issue.
Fingers crossed Orbx has found a way to reduce this problem from being as visible.

Orbx's improvement in mesh is something to be welcomed. These mountains look less rounded, and more like the real thing!

In my defence (though not really, I should just read slower :)), the What we're working on - Orbx 2021 Roadmap, was a long old post!
For me, there are some very interesting products in the Orbx development pipeline. Look foward to their releases when they are ready.

I already feel that MSFS default scenery is much better than XP and

P3D IMHO . How will the proposed “Regional Pack’s” improve the

    default scenery ? .

In my opinion/wishful thinking mode, the "Regional Packs" would contain POIs of regions/countries, e.g. castles, bridges, theme parks, antennae, masts, windmills, etc. that aren't included in the MSFS World Updates, nor appear in Orbx's City Packs.

While some people got upset with Orbx for 're-using' P3D assets from the TrueEarth GB series for the London CityPack, I'd be ok with assets from NA Northern Rockies, NZ North and NZ South Islands, Aus v2being used to give us more POIs that are missing from MSFS.

The World is a lot bigger than a few large cities in the USA and Western Europe.

I am a disappointed about those many negative and demanding responses and also about those many "nice, but..." responses to these fantastic news revealed by Orbx.

Guys, be grateful with this awsome roadmap and be happy with the products introduced and please stop demanding more and more.

Negative or not, demanding or not, what it actually is, is customer feedback.
If the same types of comments appear, it means there is potentially unmet demand. Most companies would love to know that.

X-Plane simmers can arguably feel hard done by in the number of products coming their way compared to MSFS and P3D. And on other commentary sites, there is a concern that problems with more recent releases are not being fixed, e.g. the ILS at LOWI in MSFS, in favour of new products.

  5. YBBN v2 is such an improvement. It was an obvious purchase, especially with the kind discount.
Obviously technology has advanced in the intervening period between releases, but it's good to have a major Aussie airport brought to P3D.

YPPH is still rumoured to be under development by Jarrad Marshall. Perhaps it's not too much to hope for a rejuvenated YMML...

Yeah I'm hanging out for the MSFS version. The P3D version particularly that of Brisbane city is pretty ordinary.

I dont really want a lot of other aircraft in the air at this point, as it's a pain having to do go arounds, and I'm not using ATC currently.

I would like to have more traffic parked at the airports as they are a bit like ghost towns, but not have more planes actually in the air.

Do the traffic programs allow you to do this?

Yes. There is a fantastic freeware program called 'AI Companion'.
It's a very powerful in-sim AI traffic management tool.

Want to limit the total number of AI aircraft? Want to limit to traffic at one specific airport or a handful of specific ones? Want to remove all AI on the ground when above a pre-determined altitude? Want to retain all enroute traffic when above another pre-determined altitude?

The creator is very active both with updating the program and responding to queries on the AIG (Alpha India Group) AI traffic forums.

If the mods here don't mind a freeware utility being highlighted, here is the link to the specific forum thread over at AIG with the file link in the first pinned post:

Question only partly off topic. I know you guys are prioritizing work on the most urgent thing, of course: Is the London City airport add-on going to get updated with the new taxiway and extended apron that have just been opened?

This may also be warranted because the new update "surfaced" the area covered by the new construction anyway, as you can see below.

I would really like to see EGLC updated to include the new taxiway and apron extension.

Details are already available on the official NATS AIP:

    And Jeppesen:

Even Google Maps satellite imagery shows enough to make a good recreation of what should be there:

Whatever is designed to be put there would be a big improvement on a submerged dark splodge with a tree in the middle of the dock!

    Thanks.

Will this be the last TE for P3D?

Last one for US-based scenery it appears.
    Quote from their Facebook post:

    Quote

The final addition in our range of TrueEarth US regions for P3D is coming soon to OrbxDirect, completing the west coast USA.

The Balearic Islands were released for XP, so we could see those appear in P3D.
I suppose it depends on just how many people are like me and will buy TE SoCal, and whether its worth Orbx devoting developer time to any more TE products when the MSFS market appears to be so much bigger.

  9. 'Something, something, was waiting for this in P3D, something, something...'

It looks great. Thanks for listening to customer feedback with regards to the 'hero assets'.
I look forward to adding this and the "several major Australian projects" to my MSFS in future.

(Still would love to see this come to P3D before the quality payware airliners make their appearance in MSFS).

  10. To echo what has been said by a few people in this thread, MSFS is nice, but the lack of POIs in MSFS (unlike with TrueEarth regions) makes the majority of smaller towns and cities look very uniform - they could be anywhere.

I hope it's possible to have good-looking and good-performing POI packages rolled out for MSFS.
GB, Netherlands, Balearic Islands and smaller conurbations in the USA would look a lot better with them.

  11. Very happy to see that EGLC and LOWI making an early appearance.

In the short term, I'd like all UK airports and airfields as soon as possible (I might be a little biased here).
Also, CYSE, ESSA, ESNQ (pack), KEGE, L35, NZMF, NZQN, PAVD and the PNW seabases and ferries packs.

After those, I'd like to see the long awaited YPPH, updated versions of YBBN, YMML, YSCB and EGCB make it into MSFS, before the entire catalogue of Orbx airfields is brought across.

I am also anxiously waiting for this update - hopping that V5 will not be  to be the poor relation... :-[

Unless people absolutely hate MSFS when it arrives (like what happened with MS Flight), the vast majority of simmers will transition away from P3D and XP to the new sim. And believe me, they will move.

In about a year's time, I believe that P3D and XP just won't have the numbers to support a continual production line of new scenery. There will be the occasional release, similar to FSX, but the vast majority of new products will be for MSFS. The well will dry up, just as it did with FS9, with FSX and it will happen to P3D as well.

It may sound sad, but as MSFS matures as a platform, the sales figures and numbers of MSFS users will justify a big shift of Orbx's focus to it.

    Just my 2 cents.

  13. Calling up GSX is not a solution. GSX won't provide services if you are too distant from a parking stand as defined by the underlying ADE (AFCAD) file, regardless of what the visuals in the sim portray.

There appears to be no alternate ADE file, which makes all stands available, if you uncheck each of the gate (no statics) options in the configuration for EGLC in Orbx Central.
I had to use the third party program Airport Design Editor to add all the missing stands.

Yes, were any shader apps used please? My TEGB seems a lot greener than this...anyone recognise any of the places so I can check them out please?

Good grief! You have it greener than the video?
A lot of shots are a lot greener than what I see in my sim. Using PTA with a Matt Davies preset (which doesn't use P3D's HDR) and I'm getting what I think is a relatively realistic view over GB landscape.

Will post some pictures in the screenshot forum in the next few days.

I though the second half of the promo video was very good.

Poor Gary Summons...why does everything have to be a competition?

It's not. I imagine Orbx want to showcase their TE GB series by having a range of their own airport products across GB.

The fact that these 'compete' with Gary's is neither here nor there.
How many non-Brits are aware of his stuff and how many would still buy them when compared to what Orbx has shown? I have a lot of them, yet will be replacing with Orbx's more up-to-date and higher quality ones.

  16. Great sequence of shots there @PNW User.

The correct sensation that you're experiencing with that program has added another dimension to simming for me. I was flying with just one of that developer's aircraft because of the built-in level of realism, but I am now able to pull a few more stock / lite aircraft out of the virtual hangar and achieve a similar effect.

I never really spent much time flying low and slow until I picked-up P3Dv4 and ORBX's region products + a few aerodrome sceneries. I'm so glad I went beyond just FTX Global and heavy metal, I now spend probably just under 50% of my time in GA aircraft thanks to the detail (less imagining and more seeing in the sim) that the ORBX artists incorporate in their products.

It's safe to say that you appear to be delighted with the new combo!
