  1.

I have experimented with EA in P3d over the years and never liked it. The clouds, fog and haze gave me the willies.

Personally, I use REX Sky Force (with the weather engine turned off) to set up the clouds and atmospherics (I generally only change them once a year) and then ActiveSky P3d for my live weather each time I fly.

    Sky Force | REX Simulations

    ActiveSky P3D | HiFi Simulation Technologies (hifisimtech.com)

I find the combination perfect for me all around the world.

  2. On the GSX Forum, over at FSDT, there had been discussion for the past couple of months about improvements and features that people wanted. The moderators hinted that when they roll out the MSFS version (Seems they were waiting for the program interface capability to settle down), they would roll out all the improvements on the P3d version as well.

People were looking out for that day, however...

They now have the two new versions in circulation and neither of them are working as they should.

I don't know what resources they have, but trying to fix two versions, at the same time, would be very demanding.

I'm sure they will get it right.

  3. I un-installed MSFS, over a year ago, as it did not have multi-monitor support for my 4 external monitors. Therefore, have stayed very happily with P3d v5.3HF2. I also got fed up with all the compulsory updates preventing the occasional use.

I noticed this morning that the SU10 beta, now has this multi screen support available for testing.

I was wondering if anyone is testing it, could they report how it goes here, regarding frame rates, any stutters, and how it is implemented?

  4. When I moved from v4.5 to v5.1 (Think it was last year) I wanted to be sure everything worked and I that had the latest versions of the scenery to suit v5.+ I also wanted to move everything, except the Base scenery packages, out of the sims root directory for a cleaner install.

Basically, I opened Orbx Central and began uninstalling the packages one by one. This quickly deletes the scenery from the drive but keeps the Orbx backups you have. All items still appear in My Products. After having installed v5.1 (and running it once) I began the process of installing the scenery. I followed the instructions that John pointed us to. This time I put most of the scenery into a Library on a second SSD.

I haven't had any problems with layering or incorrect versions.

  5. Well done John. Thank you

A very nice video. I particularly appreciate the low flight over the Kalgoorlie and Boulder centres after take off.

It is well constructed scenery for the airport, and the surrounds, with nice detail in the trees and dry foliage. The sky in the video looks familiar to me with the area having just an average of 11 inches (270mm) of rain in a year.

    Thanks again.

  6. Thank you for the update Anna but, did I miss where the long awaited Asia scenery development is for the the P3d Flight Simulator?

I'm sure those P3d developers are disappointed they did not even get a mention in an Orbx release?

Seems to be all about the continuously, fault correcting, MS Scenery Simulator, or the Xbox Game, without multiscreen capability?

Imagine if Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word had been released to business in the same state? There would have been an uproar from the users.

Instead, users put up with 60Gb 'development updates'.

I have to admit though, screen captures from the MSFS Simulator are great, but I think the package is a long way from being accepted as a true interfaceable Flight Simulator like the Lockheed Martin P3d.

    My opinion.

  7. Hello Toucan,

As John says, Orbx Central can install copies of the version 5 scenery for you after you have installed P3d V5.2HF1 onto your PC and it knows where it is installed. The problem is though, that the Version 5 scenery is different to the V4 scenery and is installed into a different library, or into LM V5.2. That means your drive space requirements double.

After running V5.2 for the first time, I knew I wasn't going to go back to 4.5 so, before I installed each of my 90 or so Orbx scenery packages in 5.2, I uninstalled it from 4.5 in Orbx Central. It completely removes it and makes the space available.

Takes time but is worth it.

Then you have to make sure you update your other add-ins (Active Sky, Skyforce etc.) Some you need to pay for - others you don't.
