    Yes Jack as Michael said

Its a Panic button when everything else fails,  Only to be used as a last resort

    ================================

    On a side Note:

The prepar3D.com site is down and prepar3Ding for the released

    Thanks Elaine!

I'm on their site now and have been refreshing it with no problems.

Jack, I think this is just an additional resort in case you don't get the thing to start or behave properly at all. It's indeed quite often the case something ugly crep up into exe.xml or other config files but you don't know what it is.

If you don't like this feature just forget about it - as you did with Prepar3d3 where it was not available at all.

    Kind regards, Michael

Whew!  Thanks Michael!  This is why I have Acronis.  It has saved my bacon more times than I can count.

  3. Hi Elaine, I just saw this and am very curious.  I did an entire search of this thread for the word Generated, and read through all of it.

First, why would I need to delete these files?  I see it'll restore P3D to its original state but why?  Will this be a necessary requirement after an update?

If so this is an insanely large amount of work to have to constantly re-run installers, and I have no idea how to even run Orbx's ObjectFlow.

I don't like what I'm seeing here, maybe I shouldn't get V4 after all if there's going to be this much work.

    Thanks

    Ok, thanks.

What I am not sure about is that if you have P3D v3.4 & keep it, then d/load v4 & install it as a separate stand alone sim - can you then download Orbx scenery that is v4 compliant, that you have already paid for & set up in v3.4 -  can you then install the v4 compliant Orbx scenery in V4 for free?? & run 2 separate sims?

    TTM

Elaine said yes, we can install two separate sims, which is what I'm going to do.

As for Orbx, I don't know, I think Mr. JV said yes but don't quote me on it.

If I could hazard a guess I wonder if it'll be like I have now, I run FTX and I get two selections, FSX (which I never ever use) and P3D.

So would I now have three?  FSX, P3D 3, and P3D 4?  Who knows?

All Prepar3d main versions can coexist. I had 2 and 3 in parallel for some time and will keep 3 for some time while migrating to 4. Notably they use separate configuration directories.

BTW, version 4 is not an "upgrade", it's a new version and you have to pay for it. Upgrades (point versions like 4.0, 4.1), on the other hand, can't coexist as they share the same configuration directories.

    Kind regards Michael

Thanks Michael, I kind of figured but wanted to make sure.

I know about having to re-buy it and that's not a problem, the wife unit is all go for it.

  6. Elaine, I just thought of a very important question.

Will I be able to have version 3.4 and 4 on the same PC?

If this is an upgrade I'll lose everything for a long time and many planes will never be ported like my L-39.

I sure hope I can have both.

Please advise and thank you again.

Yes Jack, we are lucky to have her here.:)

She sure has helped me personally with some P3D issues and I'm very grateful for her knowledge and especially the way she organizes with those easy to follow screens.  And, she's extremely patient when helping people.

    Hi Jack,
Sure, If you go to your username in the Forum Banner > click & select...................................................................................................................................

EDIT: That's ok Jack, I was only part way into a response but I see you have got it working now, (looks good) but you could try to take out the large white space at the bottom, left over from where the original signature and system info were displayed.

Hi again Jeff, I fixed it, I like it, thanks!

One more thing, what is this "rep" I asked about above?  Does it stand for reputation?  How do I view it, what is it used for?

    Thanks again.

  9. Jeff, can you tell me how to do what you did with the "Reveal hidden contents"?

I tried like crazy in my profile settings but I can't figure it out.

I like the way you did that and I'd like to do it too.

    Thanks.

    Jack

Disregard, I finally figured it out.  I like it.

Ok, one of the most requested features was username change

ALL member can now change their user name ONCE per 90 days and for those who think they are smarties ;) Yes, we can see your username history

Other new features have to do with your limitations on the forums 10 rep has been lifted to 50 per day and rating topics is now activated in all areas for all members (where it is allowed)... and a big one for me, something I always wanted to do ONLY you and staff can see the order number on your profile, noone else .. anyway, it is now ... looks at watch... 2130 on Friday night I have been at it on and off, more on than off since yesterday 0600 so, it is time to snooze .. enjoy everyone .. oh and before you ask, no I am not done yet lol

This may sound like a dumb question but what is a "rep"?
