  1. some of the default planes don't work with CTRL+E from cold and dark, either - it's usually something fuel related that doesn't get set correctly. The 787 requires you to manually turn on all the fuel pumps before CTRL+E works.

It would be really nice to have more start options in MSFS, though. I can't see why there's not a "start at hold short" option, at the very least - they show your plane there in the cutscene if you choose the default start on the runway option.

Doing the full start and taxi out does really add to the immersion and adds some anticipation for the take off and flight. Starting on the runway is just meh - plus possibly annoying other people in multiplayer.

    Hello,

which ones are you waiting for?

    all of them :P

It would be nice to have an updated roadmap for some of the airports due to come over - there's been a lot of instances where another developer has rushed in and done an airport for MSFS that Orbx has a really good version for P3D / FSX...    I've bought at least 2 ( and almost 3 ) airports, then found out there was an Orbx version on the way a few months later. I would have preferred to wait and get the Orbx version - but didn't know it was in the works... and I'm not going to buy 2 versions of the same airport for a slightly better version, unfortunately.

KMRY, KTVL, KACK, KBHB, KEGE, KJAC, KPSP, KSAN, KSTS, KTEL, L35 would all be on my short list, and that's just the US ;)

Looks good!  Does this mean we can fly from default airports and post screen shots with this mesh?  You guys have no airports in Alaska yet....

Really looking forward to this one!
Also looking forward to seeing the Orbx Alaska airports updated for MSFS + new additions - in the meantime - Northern Sky Studios has a good Kenai, Ketchikan and Talkeetna.

Btw. On Avsim is a bigger topic about this addon which explains a bit more:

Interesting... it does confirm my suspicion that they only have 5 ( large ) ships models that'll you'll see 1000s of times. Aside from not really being able to see the populated marinas from a useful distance in the Channel Islands demo - the thing that instantly killed it for me, was seeing the same cargo ship model 6 times within a 20km area.

Also, the argument about using high-poly models.... at least the way I fly - I'm looking at the ships from 0.5 nm away or more - I'd prefer low poly efficiency and variety ( esp regional variety )

I thought Henrik's subtle dig on them using Turbosquid models was kinda funny...  then I got curious...

Also... floatplane wake on a cargo ship? ;)

  5. I was intrigued by their original idea, but after checking out the demo and realizing that it was 5-6 of the same static cargo ship model copy/pasted and the populated marinas weren't noticeable, unless you flew directly over it, and looked straight down... in 3rd person.  Some of the animated boats were nice - but not enough to keep it. Demo was uninstalled in 30 minutes.

I never understood the model of "paid scenery for very specific marinas and small regional areas", but maybe it's just me.

I like the Orbx City sceneries and have a bunch of them... and honestly, you fly through them a couple times right after you first buy it - then never again - but at least you can see it from whatever major airports are nearby. You get a proper accurate skyline that doesn't turn into mushy triangles ;)   And their priced well.

Making leisure boats work globally would be interesting, though, if priced right...

  6. Had a significant perf boost after SU5.
1080Ti 12gb vram, running at 4k with a mix of ultra, high and off. Seeing a roughly 20-25% increase.

Much smoother in general, and I was able to fly the 787 out of LAX, with about 40 other players in the area... and fog. It was smooth enough that I wouldn't complain ( 25-30 )

The bad - texture draw-in is much more noticeable as well as LODs. I assume the servers are getting crushed right now and that would account for some of the noticeable pop-in. You noticed the lower res textures more at altitude, when in 3rd person. Cockpit view looks better, but the texture pop-in is pretty noticeable when you're descending.

    Hi Ravenn22,

Thank you! The underpass it is something that i would love to add, in fact i have created a very detailed version to use in the scenery, but unfortunately i discovered that the sim terrain in this zone does not respond enough to create the hole to fit the 3d model of the tunnel, this is why i decided to go with the " fake " tunnel. I realy hope Asobo will improve the terrain responsiveness even in the photogrammetry areas.

    Regards

Totally understand - I'm working on a small airport with a water runway ( literally a 1m deep ditch filled with water :P ) and working with the terrain system on that has been challenging... I'm having to blend edge geo with the underlaying terrain to get the right look.

BTW - still seeing some odd issues with the windsock at the 16R end - I know it was addressed in the first patch, but when I first spawn at the airport it's floating like before, after flying around the area for a while and coming back into land - it's on the ground at the correct height. IDK ;)

    Thanks!

Hi, i am looking to add LOD to kvny in the next update, this probably will have some nice impacts on the performance.

    Cheers

Hi Matteo - good news about LODs! I'm really enjoying the scenery as well ( 14 years flying there IRL )...

any chance of sneaking in the Sherman Way tunnel / underpass? It's one of the only unique features that's noticeably missing. I know it's not trivial to add - but it'd be a nice addition.

  9. +1 on this...  it's been happening for quite a while...   I always select 15 for take-off, as that's almost always the preferred departure RWY and always get put on 08, which is the preferred landing RWY ;)          I doubt that has anything to do with the issue - but Burbank uses different runways for T/O and landing most of the time.
