  1. Nick is great!

    Glad you got it fixed.

I managed to find the report where I encountered the issue.

In my case, something hadn't gone right when I tried to follow the instructions for customers who have both Orbx YBBN airport and Landmarks Brisbane City Pack.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Landmarks Brisbane and then followed the instructions again, which fixed the issue for me.

  2. DavidRN,

I think I've seen this when I was beta testing.

I looked, but haven't found the report where I reported the issue or its solution, so I'm not certain what the solution was.

Try checking the order of the entries in your scenery_packs.ini.  (It is in the X-Plane 12\Custom Scenery folder.)

Open it and see what it looks like.  You will have additional entries if you have other products installed.

The key things to check for:

    - The "Orbx_A" entries should be above the "Orbx_B" entries.

    - *GLOBAL_AIRPORTS* entry is last.

    - Ensure that "Orbx_B_Landmarks_Brisbane_YBBN_Mesh" is the only Mesh entry for Brisbane.

    Here is an example.

If you find an entry out of order, just move it to the correct order, save, and restart XP12.

If the entry order isn't your issue, your ticket should still get official support from Orbx.  I'm just a beta tester!

Is there a way to save the Orbx airports as a favorites and rename it to something like "ORBX_Place", etc...  To easily navigate to all my paid airports?

Not that I am aware of for Orbx scenery.

If you move them or change their names, Orbx Central won't be able to manage them or install updates to them.

The good news is that the Orbx scenery folders all start with "Orbx", so they are all grouped together.  ("Orbx-aircraft-...", "Orbx-airport-...", "Orbx-landmarks-..., "Orbx-mesh-...")

It is possible to rename folders in the MSFS Community folder, if they are not being managed by some other program, like Orbx Central.

For instance, I have renamed a bunch of folders for freeware airports and liveries so they show up in a logical manner.

  4. You could open the MSFS 2020 Community folder and check if you see all your Orbx scenery.

    - If you installed your Orbx scenery into the default Community folder, you will see the folders for each Orbx scenery.

    - If you installed your Orbx scenery into a separate library, the Community folder will have shortcuts to each Orbx scenery folder.

If you installed to the Community folder and now do not see any Orbx scenery, you need to reinstall it.

If you installed to an external library and now don't see shortcuts in the Community folder, check the library location.  MSFS should not have been able to remove your Orbx scenery from that folder.  If your scenery is in the library folder, you can open Orbx Central and use the Verify Files function for each scenery.  This will add the shortcuts back to the Community folder without having to re-download the entire scenery.

    Edit:

When you open Orbx Central, you will see green circles next to each product that OC thinks it has installed.  However, if you installed to an external library and then deleted (or moved) the shortcuts from the Community folder, OC will still show them as installed, but the scenery won't actually show up in the sim.  Verify Files will restore the shortcut to Community and it will then work.

I'm not sure what color circles you will see in Orbx Central if you installed into the Community folder, but then manually removed the Orbx scenery folders from Community or if MSFS removed them.

What's the normal timeline before we see it in the Orbx manager?

I can't officially speak for Orbx, but just based on my observations, third party products can take anywhere from an immediate release to over a week.

I assume the time differences are partly due to different agreements with third party developers.  Orbx may not get an update right away due to a marketing agreement giving the developer's own site (or another distributor) a brief period to offer the update first.  Once Orbx gets the update, I think they normally check it over and get it uploaded to Orbx Central pretty quickly.

I think I got it, KMYL McCall, Idaho

     You got it Rob!

    Edit:

If nobody had gotten it by this morning, I was going to add this second photo of McCall.

    Edit 2:

The main reason I stopped in McCall that day was to see if I could get a couple detail photos of the Air Tanker information signs in the little park next to the fence.

I didn't have snow shoes that day and decided to give it a go when there is less snow!

I was also wondering if TE and Regional sceneries could both be installed together.  For example I want TE Washington and TE Oregon but I also want to have the Northern Rockies region and Southern Rockies region So I can have that entire conneted area with no gaps.

You can have both TE and Region sceneries installed at the same time.  No special action required on your part.

Here is an example.  Say you have TE Washington and the NA Northern Rockies region installed.

Spokane, WA is in the coverage areas of both products, so over Spokane you will see TE Washington scenery because TE automatically takes priority.

If you fly north to the border with Canada, the TE Washington coverage ends and you will see the NA Northern Rockies scenery.

I don't understand why Orbx just didn't finish up the NW region so that Oregon is completely covered.  I want to have one big connected area of scenery spanning from south California all the way up into the Fjords Region with no gaps.

My guess is that the release of great looking TrueEarth scenery had reduced demand for the old land class based Region scenery.  With TE Oregon available, there probably wasn't much demand for development of a potential "NA Oregon" Region.

Then MSFS 2020 came along and reduced the demand for P3D products in general as simmers switched to MSFS.

While TE scenery makes a HUGE improvement to default P3D, there isn't the same need in MSFS 2020 since the Bing imagery, while not always perfect, generally looks really good and covers the entire globe right out of the box.  (Note my old fart reference to the days when software actually came on physical media in a box! :D)

I don't want to hijack this thread into a P3D versus MSFS discussion.  Some people have reasons for sticking with P3D and MSFS has its issues.

However, if good photo-realistic scenery coverage is your goal, instead of buying all the Orbx TE scenery for P3D and still only having a fraction of the globe covered, you might consider using that money to buy MSFS 2020 and spending the rest on new Orbx airports, cityscapes, and aircraft for MSFS.

Do whatever works best for you and how/where you like to fly!

I have TE North and South California and have North and South LC for california

When you say "North and South LC for California", I am assuming you mean you have the NA Northern California and NA Southern California regions, and not just Global openLC North America

I'm just a beta tester, but I don't think there is a performance penalty when flying in P3D if you keep the NA N & S California regions installed.

Uninstalling the NA regions isn't going to improve your FPS.

When you load a flight, P3D should prioritize the TrueEarth California scenery over the NA California regions and you will only see the TE scenery elements.

Installed NA Regions won't add anything to what you see within the TE coverage areas, but will still show up anywhere they extend beyond the TE coverage.

Other than saving a bit of drive space, the only potential benefit to uninstalling NA regions would be a slightly faster P3D load time.  Since P3D scans all you installed scenery, removing some would speed things up.  However, the NA regions are small compared to the TE scenery so it could only be seconds.

I just left all my "regions" installed.  If I ever wanted to fly with snow on the ground, I could just temporarily disable the TE scenery by un-checking the box in the P3D scenery manager and then I could fly over snowy region scenery.

I'm a bit disappointed at the slow roll out of Aussie scenery for MSFS

Just for perspective, Orbx Central currently has 22 Australian airports, 6 cities, and The Great Barrier Reef available right now.

So that's 29 Australian products released in the 31 months since MSFS was released.  An average of almost one per month.

Additionally, YBRK has been officially announced and there are posts that YMML and YHOT are in development.

The poor Kiwis currently only have three airports and one city.

South America only has four airports.

Africa doesn't have any airports, just one city and the Okavango Delta.

Don't get me wrong, I hope that all my Orbx Australian airports from P3D are eventually released for MSFS, along with lots of new ones too.

I'm just a beta tester and don't know Orbx's plans, but based on the amount of scenery I've been testing, it seems to me that Orbx is working very hard to meet the incredible demand for scenery.

Is the only solution to redownload the whole airport or can I get just the relevant file to save bandwidth

Glad a reload sorted the issue.

If you are concerned about downloading data, you could first try using the "Verify files" option in Orb Central.

This scans what you have installed and will only download new files it thinks needs to be updated.

If you still have an issue after verifying files, then move on to an uninstall and reinstall.

Then I saw a ATR static in Swiss livery... geez, this cant be serious, no? This totally ruins the immersion of this nice little airport, as Swiss never used ATR... Can the statics at least be disabled?

There is currently no control panel in Orbx Central to remove the static aircraft at LSZB.

I just beta test and don't know if there is another way to remove static aircraft.

The HB-IYZ registration on the static plane's livery appears to belong to a British Aerospace Avro RJ100 operated by Swiss Airlines.  (Retired in 2017 according to wiki.)

My guess is the developer didn't have a model of an Avro RJ100 and used the ATR model to approximate one.

I suspect that most people are unfamiliar with which airplane types are accurate for Swiss Airlines, so their immersion won't be totally ruined.  I certainly didn't know!  When I saw the plane, my thought was "cool, a Swiss commuter plane."  I do acknowledge that when you know something is inaccurate, it can drive you nuts, while others are blissfully unaware there is anything wrong at all!

While I am certainly for accurate aircraft as much as possible, I can sympathize with developers who sometimes have to compromise and use something in their scenery that is technically inaccurate, yet still contributes to the "feel" of an airport.

    Re mesh.

Without Orbx mesh French Pass is no longer, just wide open ocean with lots of Jettys with boats just floating around where Durville Island should be.

WITH  Orbx Mesh, Perfect, French pass is there normal size and boat jettys are attached to land.

I'll keep Orbx Mesh thanks active meantime until new one is released.

I think this is the type of feedback Orbx is looking for.

Both finding places where Orbx NZ Mesh is improving WU12, like adding Durville Island, as well as where it causes errors, like water up on the hillside at Milford Sound.

took my first flight from Milford Sound - very disappointed - didn't seem to be as good as the previous basic offering

the edges of the water is sooooh sharp - no landings/beaches

If you have installed World Update 12 New Zealand, which I assume most people will do, I think Milford Sound looks best right now if you uninstall Orbx NZ Mesh.

(That should remove both Orbx-mesh-new-zealand and z_airport-nzmf folders from the Community folder.)

If you want to keep Orbx's NZ Mesh installed for another reason, I still recommend manually removing the z_airport-nzmf folder.  That will fix issues at the airport.

Removing the Orbx-mesh-new-zealand folder will remove the Orbx mesh from all of New Zealand.  It also fixes the current water on the hillside at Milford Sound.

Orbx is looking for your feedback on NZ Mesh issues with World Update 12 installed.

  14. Hello Kai,

I'm pretty sure VDGS should be working at all the gates.  (It is working for me on the gates I tried.)

I am just a beta tester and don't know the solution to your problem, but you may get a faster solution if your ask your question in the Community Help Forums or submit a ticket for official Orbx support.
