FTX Global for P3D errors

ST0RM

Recommended Posts

Just purchased this today and began the install. After waiting for it to install and clicking next as required, I got an error about it not seeing the the P3D terrain.cfg

I could locate it perfectly, why this cant is beyond me. So then, the Central program starts up and is needing a disk. Again, I dont know what disk it needs as I downloaded it. So I point to where the unzipped files are and it doesnt like it.

After some time, I've given up. I cant even find it in the remove program listing to uninstall it. Based on ORBX's reputation for quality and for the price, I expected an easier process.

Without reading through every FAQ hoping for some remote chance at a solution, I'm asking here.

Thanks.

Jeff

Welcome,

The file you downloaded is compressed, a .zip file.

Before you can use it, it must be decompressed, aka unzipped

or extracted.

You can do this using Windows File Explorer or you can download

and use 7 zip or winzip.

What will not work is to run the .exe file without first decompressing,

even though Windows File Explorer lets you see the contents.

Once the file has been decompressed, you will see numbered folders

and an .exe file.

If you haven't already, go to

Windows File Explorer\View\Options\Change folder and Search options\View

and untick Hide extensions for known file types.

This will make it far easier to find the files you want.

Right click on the .exe file and select Run as administrator.

Follow the on screen instructions and the files will be installed to P3D.

You will see an error message but you can ignore it.

When the installer has finished then go to the FTX Support page

here https://www.fullterrain.com/support

Scroll down to the bottom and you will find two versions of the libraries.

I assume that you have P3D version 2, so download the second one.

Once again, unzip the file and run the .exe file and the libraries and

FTX Central, the FTX product control panel, will be installed.

Installing the libraries will also put the files in order and remove the

terrain.cfg error message.

You will then find an icon for FTX Central on your desktop.

You can run this, select Global and click on Apply Group.

In the lower left corner you will find a link to the

Orbx Guide.

It covers how the products work and much more besides.
