NSTU Pago Pago Experience package

One of the most beautiful packages to come along is the NTXU Pago Pago from American Samoa package..

being that a clear and concise statement...

I have found some issues that urgently need addressing....

The videos I've seen focus mainly on Pago Pago and Ofu... but next to Ofu there is another very nice airport that is included.

According to Google maps, Wikipedia and many other sources, this airport is the only airport on Tau.

It is the Fituita (ICAO NSFQ) airport of the village of Maia.

As i stumbled around to find the well detailed landing strip in the Pago Pago promo videos of Ofu, I happened upon Fituita.

1. The only airport I could find in the FSX airport selection on Tau is HI36.

2. Selecting automatically puts you in a forest with an instant crash of the aircraft

3. To land at what I believe is HI36 (or I believe NSFQ) I had to fly in from Ofu. As you see in the images, it is rather strange.

4. The people flow and actual land-able strip, parking etc sits way above the true elevationSitting on some peaks surroung the true elev strip below. I tried to land on the very real looking texture of a strip below, it runs you into an invisible wall as I found out.

5. I looked in the Vector Elevation configuration and could not find NSFQ to modify its elevation.... Not there... I did find HI36 under the enabled column and disabled it.... After trying to leave from HI36 again, Same result. Flying in from Ofu?, No Change.

6. HI36 is listed in FSX as the Village of TAU which resides on the other end of the island.... Is there any way to get the right ICAO name in to FSX? Or can FTX/ORBX create a patch for this sort of thing so Realist Aviators like myself, like things to relate back and forth from Real to Sim and back?

Here are some images

The first are with HI36 Enabled in Vector...

If you notice in the last Image, It seems that the 3d buildings below look like they are part of the same package where the rest is at a higher elevation.

Key Issues...

1. Elevation issues for NSDQ Fituita Airport in Mia, Tau Island, American Samoa

2. Wrong ICAO, Wrong Village in FSX Settings

3. Realted to this post..: Trying to post this it says you may not submit more than 5 tags... I have only 5...

  • TAU×
  • MAIA×
  • FITUITA×
  • NSFQ×
  • HI36×

I will eliminate TAU.. the most obvious to be able to post this..

Just to clarify, I have no third party software or scenery that interferes with this location with the exception of the New Guinea package by ORBX.

Is it possible that there may be a conflict or a geographical overlap?

Just questions that spin in my head but maybe this can be addressed in the next patch for this excellent Scenery release.

Thanks....

The issues you are noting seem to be unique to your installation in that I have this scenery and everything is working perfectly.

Perhaps you have a conflicting scenery.

Or, Orbx Vector may be an issue - I don't have Vector so I can't really address anything about it.

Hi Guillermo,

No patch necessary.

HI36 Tau Airport no longer exists, this airport was closed down in the early 1990s, and replaced with the larger FAQ Fitiuta Airport, which is exactly what we designed.

You only have the 1 (one) issue: the elevation problem at FAQ Fitiuta, if you use FTX-Vector you will need to run the Auto AEC tool as per the FTX-Vector instructions, each time you install some 3rd party scenery.

Appreciate the help...

I ran the autoconfig with no luck.

I have no conflicting scenery and the one thing I noticed was that the airport in question is not listed in vector.

In reply to Bruce... NSFA is Faleolo. The one I am having problems with is NSFQ which I repeat, not listed in the vector utility for elevations.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fitiuta_Airport

But you have a list below of what I have sans Pago Pago because I just purchased it....

FTX Install point is also where it is supposed to be.....

Could it have something to do with FTX Libraries?

Let me simplify this...

1. the NSFQ Fituita is the only airport on Tau.... Why is it not listed correctly in FSX?

2. Could there be a naming conflict withe software since FSX Lists it as FAQ?

3. Could be an issue with Orbx Libraries last update for object flow that popped up and made me restart FSX

Some thing is confusing different objects of the same scenery to place them at 2 different levels...

and it is not any add on scenery outside of orbx. The closest geographically located one I have is Jackson airport in Papua....

Thank you.

Thank you so much gents.....

It is the FAQ that threw me....... I was looking for the ICAO code of NSFQ

I couldn't find the NSFQ in the vector config.

One last question...

I notice the IA traffic in this package is very absent as is the boat traffic....

I have my setting up but notice no change....

Is there a frame rate reason for this?

Thanks again.

Great stuff!

Regarding aircraft AI, do you have the extra little Samoan AI update posted here? http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/98782-the-samoan-experience-free-ai-pack-and-some-tips/(Note you will need the FTX AI Australian pack)

With that installed you should see Twinotters, BN2 Islanders, Dorniers, ATRs, and the larger 737/A320s, these all run to their real life schedules and correct airports, the only AI aircraft not represented is the Hawaiian 767, this will happen in a possible future update of the FTX AI Australia pack, for now we have a static 767 model parked at NSTU Mondays to Thursdays during the daytime

Ship AI, there is a custom USGC cutter patrolling the area, and a tuna boat, as for increasing traffic beyond this I highly recommend the extensive freeware Global Ship AI pack posted on Simouthouse/Avsim etc
