Ground/Terrain Texture Black & Splotchy

Hi all,

I have this awful black/green splotchy mess of a terrain going on everywhere I fly and am not quite sure why. The spots do not flicker, and appear to simply be part of the terrain.

I currently have the FTX PNW NA Blue addon installed. I am running P3D v2.5. I have updated my OrbxLibs to the most recent update and "reapplied" the scenery in the loader. I am flying just south of CYHE (Hope) and within the PNW area. I have attempted to turn graphics settings up/down. I have turned shadows off/on. Nothing seems to resolve it.

By default, I am running all scenery sliders in P3D to the right (max); in graphics FXAA (ON), MSAA (4 samples), Texture Filtering (Ani 16x), Texture Resolution (High), with hardware tessellation enabled.

I am fairly new to flight simming and brand new to visual addons, but was hoping someone might be able to help me. Is what I'm seeing the default ground in P3D? Do I need a ground mesh addon? Or what do you think could be causing the issues in the picture above?

Here are some more screenshots from around KSEA.

Is the addon even installed? I honestly bought FTX PNW at the same time as I did P3D so I have nothing to compare the "before" visuals to, only what I see now. Sorry if that's a dumb/offensive question. The only other visual addon I am running is REX4 which I can definitely see a difference in water/weather/runway.

Please let me know when you have time.

Thanks,

David

Looks to me like you have autogen set to a mid to low value allowing the ground texture to show through. The texture is based on the trees and shadows that are on the ground, however it is not a very pretty texture. Trouble is there doesn't seem to be abetter alternative.

Try cranking your autogen up to Very Dense or Exremely Dense in areas where pine forests  occur (most of PNW).

Thank you for the quick reply.

Sadly, I already had autogen (buildings & vegetation) set to extremely dense when I took these pictures.

If this is how it's supposed to look, then okay. I just wanted to make sure that I didn't mess anything up with the install/enabling the addon since I see these same black splotches outside the PNW zone throughout the rest of P3D.
