Very high autogen instead of maximum gives much better performance without a big visual impact. A good way to smooth out the ride is water at 2xLow (just in case higher settings bend things down significantly). Realistic car traffic i get at around 25% - for a smooth discovery flight i disable all other traffic for best terrain visuals.
