FTX Central has stopped loading

Hello,

My FTX Central has taken upon itself to refuse to load after working perfectly for a number of weeks. It is currently set on Europe, but I obviously need to be able to change this setting.

Loading hangs and I eventually get the message:

"Could not find a part of the path
C:\Users\Jock\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\Scenery\World\Texture\TilePattern12.bmp"

Any help would be much appreciated. Frustration reigns!

That certainly is a rather odd error message.

Probably your FSX registry entry has become corrupt.

First of all, try to reinstall the latest ORBX libraries

and note please into which location the installer

puts the files.

If it does not match the actual location of FSX on your

PC, please do not install it but report back with the outcome.

Thank.

Sorry for the delay, Nick.

I have two terabyte drives on my PC, one specifically for FSX (Drive I)

However, the Libraries want to install here,on the other drive:

C:\Users\Jock\App Data\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX

Shortcut folder: Orbx

As well as the European addons I also have various North American Orbx addons.

I await your further suggestions anxiously.

Thank you so much for your interest.

Regards,

Jock

You need to modify your registry entry to reflect the path to where your installation actually is,

it is most definitely not in C:\Users\Jock\App Data\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX.

You can do this quite easily by following the registry section

here  http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/83440-how-to-move-fsx-from-one-drive-to-another/

or perhaps by using the tool found here http://tweakfs.com/download/fsx_reg_utility.zip

Many thanks again, Nick. You say: "It is assumed that FTX products are already installed to C:\FSX\ORBX." Unfortunately I can't find any sign of FTX on the C: drive. All FTX is already in my FSX folder on my I: drive. So I'm somewhat stumped now.

Any suggestions please?
Regards,

Jock

Sorry, Nick, I've found FSX on the C: drive in a folder called Microsoft. Inside there is an ORBX folder which has FTX AU in it, which in turn has FTXAA ORBXLIBS. I have the Freeware Tasmania Demo installed from way back.

There is another folder called Scripts which, among other things, has FTXCentral in it. The User Documents folder in here has the latest version of ORBXLIBS.

Perhaps I should uninstall Tasmania then reinstall it; it could be causing the confusion (?)

Regads,

My guide is meant as an example and I never meant you to read

other than the section on how to amend the registry so that the

installers are told the correct location of the FSX folder.

If you have remnants of a previous installation on your C: drive,

you should delete them.

I assume that you have never actually installed FSX to the I drive,

rather copied it there from elsewhere?

Whether this was the case or not, if that is where is is now, you need to

tell the registry.

If you provide me with the exact path to your present installation I may be able

to provide you with a registry key which can be easily imported into your registry.

Tried that but now there's another error when I try to open FTX Central:

Custom Files Validation Report
Custom file does not exist.
I:\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\ORBX\Scripts\Custom.na\veg_palm1.dds

Custom file does not exist.
I:\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\ORBX\Scripts\Custom.na\veg_tropical2.dds

Will it ever end!

Regards,

Jock

I've looked again at FTX Central and, in spite of the error report, all regions are now present.

What, if anything, is the significance of the error report, please?

Regards,

Jock

Those two texture files are only used in NCA so the message is indeed of no consequence.

If you want to get rid of it you can copy veg_tropical2.dds and veg_palm1.dds from

your \ORBX\Scripts\Custom.au into \ORBX\Scripts\Custom.na.

The above is from a reply by Holger to an identical enquiry.

Do I take it that your problems are now fixed?

Nick, you're a marvel - and enormously patient as well as very clever.

Yes, I'm pretty sure the problem is fixed, thanks entirely to you. I'll follow Holger's method as given - thanks.

From the bloke in the South-West to the chap in the North-East, my sincere thanks for all your help.

Best Wishes,

Jock
