Fifinella
Hi, I am new to Orbx and have been trying to use the North American Demos in FSX. When Globe opens I get error message that it cannot find, "Script", cfg., and denied messages. Also nothing shows up in the FSX scenery. Way does the installer put the file in the correct place? Can anyone help me with this or point me to a step by step install where each file should be? Not off to a good start for a first time customer with install issues. Thank, KAP CFIS, SE Pilot
Düsselwings
Welcome to the ORBX Community! To run (not only) the PNW Demo it's necessary to run the latest Libraries (FTX support) after all. Then the latest FTX Central should be there (which you have to start first, click North America and don't forget to apply) Everytime you install something from ORBX later, be sure to have this latest Library installed again after the Addon (Attention, there is one Library for FSX /P3D v1.4 and one for P3Dv2.x) Good luck and have fun! Nick Cooper
Welcome. The demos will install correctly but only if FSX is also installed correctly. Numerous error messages in FTX Central suggest that the installation failed. There are some possibilities perhaps due to access permissions in Windows dependant on your Windows version and settings. You must have Microsoft .net framework 3.5 and upwards installed. FSX must be patched to SP2 or Acceleration. The installer uses the location stored in the Windows Registry to locate the install location which must match the actual location of the FSX root folder. Your Windows version and install location would be useful to know and for now, if you have a 64 bit operating system, the following is how to check and if necessary correct the registry entry. 1. Right click on your Taskbar and from the drop down box select Task Manager. 2. At the top left of the Task Manager window menu bar you will see File. Left click on this and select Run new task and in the box that appears, type regedit. 3. Click OK and the registry editor window will open, it works like Windows File Explorer. As you would in Windows File Explorer, using the left hand window pane, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0 In the right hand window pane you should now see Your SetupPath will point to the recorded location of your FSX installation You may need to change this to the actual path to your FSX installation. Right click on SetupPath and you will see this Left click on Modify and you will see this Make sure that the current entry is highlighted as in the picture and then type the actual location into its place. Click on OK and close the registry editor.
Fifinella
Hi Nick, Thank you for helping me. I did what you wrote above. My path was: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X I do not have C:/FSX. I am still getting this message, see attachment. Cheers, Keri-Ann Untitled 1.pdf
Nick Cooper
Assuming that the files are actually present in the locations,I think that both errors are probably caused by permissions restrictions in your operating system. C:\Program files x (86) is a protected folder. You can try switching off your User Account Control and running everything as an administrator. There is a way to alter the permissions of a folder but I have never really mastered it and for as long as I can remember, have installed FSX and everything else that I can outside C:\Program Files and C:\Program files x (86) Here are your screenshots. This link might help, if you wish to persevere http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/83440-how-to-move-fsx-from-one-drive-to-another/
