Elevated runways/taxiways since FTX Global?

Recommended Posts

I am not accusing Orbx of being the culprit, but...

I am trying to track down the cause of a number of my airports having this problem, although not EGLL by UK2000. The surrounding ground areas appear to be several meters below the runways/taxiways, and cause crashes on landing. I am also getting the GPWS warning "Too low, terrain!" on takeoff which may be because of confusion about terrain elevations.

I have my FSX Graphics set at:

  • Global texture resolution at Very high
  • Advanced animations checked

I have my Scenery set at:

  • LOD to large
  • Mesh complexity to 100
  • Mesh resolution to 5m
  • Texture resolution to 7cm
  • Water effects to None
  • Scenery complexity to Extremely dense
  • Autogen density to Dense
  • Special effects detail to High

I have run the FTX Global VECTOR Airport Elevation Corrections program and Peter Dowson's makerwys.exe to no effect.

Is there a suggestion to resolve this?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Cheers, Richard 8)

Hi Richard,

not knowing which sceneries you have installed makes it a bit of guessing game, could you please be so kind and give concrete examples with coordinates and a screenshot so we can have a look from our end and have a better option of detecting the origin of the issue at hand.

Hi Wolter,

Sorry to say that following your suggested actions has not produced the desired results. Landing at LTBA yesterday caused a crash as the surrounding ground elevations were different to the runways.

However, I am not sure that the Vector tool for height adjustments is doing anything. Immediately I press the Apply button, I receive the message "FTX VECTOR changes applied successfully". Is it not making any alterations to my scenery?

Further help will be much appreciated.

Cheers, Richard

Do you have installed all updates and patches for your installed FTX titles ?

please check here for the latest patches and updates => http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/forum/77-release-announcements/ and here https://www.fullterrain.com/support

to check which version you have installed on you system you can check that via the FTX Central CP

Tools

Reports

FTX products installed

a pop up will appear with the listing of your installed FTX titles with version numbers

Hi Wolter,

Still have the exact same problems.

please move the ORBX! VECTOR_AEC entry down to just above the default scenery entry, that's 2 from the bottom fire up fsX close it and then run the Vector tool for height adjustments

Done.

Do you have installed all updates and patches for your installed FTX titles ?

Yes, all checked.

Is there a difference between running Auto-Configuration and running Manual Configuration with no airports disabled? I have been running the latter until now.

I was wondering whether also having the FSX Western Europe and Easter Europe scenery areas checked may interfere?

Cheers, Richard
