Alegon
Hello, I have tried three full installations (long time) to no avail. This is for FSX, SP1 and SP2 installed. Running WIN 7, 64. The installer goes thru the complete process and stops and the end while trying to open FTX Central. There is an error in the "Installed ORBX Product Report" quoting " object reference not set to an instance of an object". I have FSX installed on a external drive (D:) and running perfectly from there. The installer is forcing the installation to D:\\ FS-X\FTX\ORBX..??The root for my sim is D:\FSX. Should I force the installation to this root directory? It appears I have a registry issue... Thanks in advance. Alex Order: FSS0277966
Alegon
Hello, A follow up to my unresolved problem with more details - I have reinstalled FTX Global Base four times to no avail. While the installation (unwrap) appears to be complete, FTX Central freezes while trying to load providing the same "unhandled exception error" as the prior three times. Below is a summary: I have FSX installed on a external drive (1TB/GDrive) as D:FSX in my system and running at 30fps with no problems. The FTX installer creates a D:FS-X folder for the installation. The ORBX directory resides as D:FS-X\ORB in the directory. There are no sub-directories created by the installer on C:FSX (simulator root directory). Below is a Notepad copy of the exception when trying to open FTX Central: Quote See the end of this message for details on invokingjust-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text **************System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file 'D:\FS-X\terrain.cfg'.File name: 'D:\FS-X\terrain.cfg' at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.FileStream.Init(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, Int32 rights, Boolean useRights, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES secAttrs, String msgPath, Boolean bFromProxy) at System.IO.FileStream..ctor(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, String msgPath, Boolean bFromProxy) at System.IO.FileStream..ctor(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options) at System.IO.StreamReader..ctor(String path, Encoding encoding, Boolean detectEncodingFromByteOrderMarks, Int32 bufferSize) at System.IO.StreamReader..ctor(String path, Encoding encoding) at System.IO.File.ReadAllLines(String path, Encoding encoding) at FTXCentral.TerrainConfig.CFGFileToList(String ConfigFilename) at FTXCentral.TerrainConfig.LoadTerrainCFG() at FTXCentral.PublicDefs.UpdateTerrainCFG() at FTXCentral.PublicDefs.InitFTXEnv() at FTXCentral.FTXC.InitSystem() at FTXCentral.FTXC.InitAll() at FTXCentral.FTXC.Timer1_Tick(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Timer.OnTick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Timer.TimerNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) ************** Loaded Assemblies **************mscorlib Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5477 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework64/v2.0.50727/mscorlib.dll----------------------------------------FTXCentral Assembly Version: 1.0.4.0 Win32 Version: 1.0.4.0 CodeBase: file:///D:/FS-X/ORBX/Scripts/FTXCentral/FTXCentral.exe----------------------------------------Microsoft.VisualBasic Assembly Version: 8.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 8.0.50727.5420 (Win7SP1.050727-5400) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/Microsoft.VisualBasic/8.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll----------------------------------------System Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5467 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.dll----------------------------------------System.Windows.Forms Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5468 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Windows.Forms/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Windows.Forms.dll----------------------------------------System.Drawing Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5467 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Drawing/2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/System.Drawing.dll----------------------------------------System.Runtime.Remoting Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5420 (Win7SP1.050727-5400) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Runtime.Remoting/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Runtime.Remoting.dll----------------------------------------System.Configuration Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5476 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Configuration/2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/System.Configuration.dll----------------------------------------System.Xml Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5476 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Xml/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Xml.dll----------------------------------------lt3zjjkw Assembly Version: 1.0.4.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5467 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.dll----------------------------------------System.Core Assembly Version: 3.5.0.0 Win32 Version: 3.5.30729.5420 built by: Win7SP1 CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Core/3.5.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Core.dll----------------------------------------uh067thl Assembly Version: 1.0.4.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.5467 (Win7SP1GDR.050727-5400) CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.dll---------------------------------------- ************** JIT Debugging **************To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for thisapplication or computer (machine.config) must have thejitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section. The application must also be compiled with debuggingenabled. Holger Sandmann
Hi Alex, you may want to use one of the available registry checkers to make sure your Windows registry points to the actual location of FSX.exe; see http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/76197-orbx-not-seeing-fsx-in-registry-when-installing/ Cheers, Holger
Alegon
Hello Holger, Thanks a lot for coming in and helping with my initial install issue! In true honesty I should have spent more time (think more) with this installation. I am happy to report that I have FTX Global Base now running with no problems. For the record they were two issues with my original install: 1) My Sys Registry was incorrect and I discovered after using the registry checker (TweakFS) as suggested. I had one wrong path. 2) I was pointing to the wrong path regarding FSX root directory location. I have both FSX and FTX on a external drive (D:\), and I had (the main problem and my mistake) FSX on a subdirectory to the D:\ drive! For this reason ORBX was not installing correctly with a direct path to the FSX.Exe folder location. Thanks again for your help, and I now consider this topic resolved.
