George de Tuncq
The previous posts dealing with this error message do not apply in this case so here I am. When I click on the FTX Central icon I get the blue Loading screen and then this error message. "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue the application will ignore the error and attempt to continue. If you click quit the application will close." It will not continue. Based on previous posts I have tried the following to no avail. Reinstalled the latest library. checked that the autogen Default file is indeed an xml, ran restore points from 1 day and 3 days before the problem, tried to reinstall an area to renew the FTX Central file and done numerous cold and warm boots. Nothing helps. Is there a doctor in the house?
Ed Correia
Clicking on the Details button of the Error window will give more information as to what the error is. If you could copy & paste that here please.
George de Tuncq
Thanks for spotting this when I posted it in the wrong forum Ed. Here is the error message and I freely admit I understand not one part of it. Ed Correia
Mmm, first time I've seen this one. I assume you have at least .Net version 4 installed? In your ORBX\Scripts folder, could you confirm if you have a file called FTXSettings.xml?
George de Tuncq
Hi Ed, I have .NET 4.5.1 running. FTXSettings.xml is in ORBX\Scripts folder. If it weren't for the honor I could forgo the "First" category. George
Ed Correia
Hi George, Just getting some help from the FTX Central coder, but my suspicion is still with .Net. Will advise you once I get an answer.
George de Tuncq
Hello Ed, Looking for a fix I went to the Microsoft support site. There were many threads pertaining to the error message that I have. It seemed to say that my .NET installation might be at fault. It suggested going to Control Panel, finding .NET and choosing "uninstall or change". That gave me the choice to repair or uninstall. I ran repair, rebooted and tried FTX Central. It gave me the same error message. At least we now know that my .NET is OK. George
Adrian Lehmann (FSS)
Hi George, In this particular case there seems to be a problem with one of you orbx_cpl*.xml files. The issue is happening when trying to load up one of these files as an XML document. Perhaps it's been malformed or something but one of them cannot be read properly. Can I please get you to reply to this post, attaching all of your orbx_cpl*.xml files and I'll see if I can find the culprit. Then it will be a matter of providing you with the original version of the offending file. EDIT: You'll find the orbx_cpl*.xml files in the <<FSX>>\Orbx\Scripts folder. George de Tuncq
Hello Adrian, I found the files and copied them into a folder. That's the good news. I am unable to get them pasted into this space after copying them. I have never had that happen before. I am using Google Chrome. Is it a peculiarity of Chrome? I can attach them to an email. They add up to 164 KB which will hopefully be OK with my ISP. Do you have a better suggestion as to how to get these files to you? George

George de Tuncq
Hi Adrian, I ran the FTX Central that you sent me and got this error message. "Runtime error locating the Registry entry for FSX. Could not find file C:\FSX\ORBX\Scripts\FTXCentral\FTXCentral\FTXSettings.xml." Thinking that might call for the FSTweaks registry repair tool I tried to download it from your site but got an error message that the page was not working. I tried the FSTweaks site and got the same message. I had a 2008 version of the utility and ran that. I got the same error message when I tried to run FTX Central. I tried re-installing OzSP4 and it installed OK so it is able to find the path to FSX. Here are the contents of my FTXSettings.xml. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> -<FTX_Settings> <FSXRegistryKey>SOFTWARE\Microsoft\microsoft games\flight simulator\10.0</FSXRegistryKey> <FSXRegistryValue>SetupPath</FSXRegistryValue> <SceneryCFGLocation>Microsoft\FSX</SceneryCFGLocation> </FTX_Settings> Are we getting close? Adrian Lehmann (FSS)
Hi George, No the issue here is that the FTXCentral.exe I sent you is in the wrong folder. It should just be in <<FSX>>\ORBX\Scripts\FTXCentral but from what I can tell you have it nested in another FTXCentral folder: <<FSX>>\ORBX\Scripts\FTXCentral\FTXCentral
George de Tuncq
Hi Adrian, Sorry for the error. It is now in FSX\ORBX\Scripts\FTXCentral. Adrian Lehmann (FSS)
Okay George, it looks like orbx_cpl_yplc.xml was missing from the list of files you sent me. Can I get you to send that in reply to the case email from the FSS help desk please?
Adrian Lehmann (FSS)
Following a dialogue with George via the FSS help desk I was able to send him a replacement orbx_cpl_yplc.xml file which has solved the issue. If one of the mods could mark this one as resolved it would be greatly appreciated. Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
