brendanstacey
Down at VOZ forums they say that your Tamworth freeware is fs9 only as it doesnt work with fsx. I've seen pictures of it and it looks amazing. Anyway, are there any plans to upgrade this freeware airport to FSX as many are missing out on this great product of yours. John Venema
Most definitely. There will be a payware Tamworth for FSX fully integrated into the FTX AU GOLD region. Should be out later this year.
VH-JLC
weird.... free for FS9 pay for FSX.... I'd imagine ther'd be some sort of upgrade to pimp up the FS9 version to make it worth its $$$ value
Rob Nieuwenhoven
Tamworth FS9 was an abandoned incomplete project which was pretty heavy on frames, had no seasonal changes, missed buidings, etc; hence no charge. We have to do extensive work to it to make it FSX compatible and we all need to eat...
Barry Meiklejohn
You will see textures upgraded from 5m per pixel to 1m per pixel, plus I know there are a number of other improvements that will make it worthwhile.

mstyles
Payware airport packs (eg YSSY) sound good. Is it possible to also include some of the "landmarks" of the city the airport is in too? For example, with YSSY it would be good to have modelled (in at least a simple form) the North Sydney CBD, St Leonards, Chatswood, Parramatta and maybe some of the smaller urban centres eg Hornsby, Liverpool. The Sydney Harbour bridge is pretty shocking in default FSX, and circular quay and darling harbour could use a little work too. How about the Oil refinery at Kurnel (lots of oil tanks). Botany Bay container terminal etc. Although I guess all these sorts of things can be added by the community.
John Venema
Although I guess all these sorts of things can be added by the community. Correct. That's why we will release an FTX SDK program for developers.
brendanstacey
You could start by doing the harbour Bridge Anyway, how are we supposed to get these community upgrades? Will they be on the site on a downloads page or will they be implemented in a free updates package sorta like voz?

Brendan you raised the Harbour Bridge issue in another topic here: http://orbxsystems.com/forums/index.php?topic=857.0 to which I replied and explained the work involved Yes, there will be a community based freeware scenery offering, it's called VOZ Scenery X (VSX), and it will be progressively be upgraded to seamlessly work with FTX. The developers on that project will be adding thousands of objects (such as the Harbour Bridge etc etc) to VSX and it's from the VOZ website where you would download that freeware. brendanstacey
Sorry about double posting on the harbour bridge, I didnt read your post untill after I made another post about it. So that means your sdk is directly aimed at VOZ users? How does it differ from the microsoft default sdk?
John Venema
Our SDK is only available to current VOZ developers working on either VOZ 1.x for FS9 or VSX for FSX. They will be provided the full set of FTX textures, libraries and technical support to enable creation of freeware content, airport, scenery for VSX. VSX will be the official means of adding scenery to FTX, over and above the freeware airports Orbx will provide. To summarise: Orbx Freeware airports will be downloadable from http:/fullterrain.com - there will be a "Free Stuff!" link added to the site following release of AU BLUE VSX will be available from http://vistaoz.org - There is no release date for the next version, as there is remedial work required which will make it 100% compatible with FTX.
