PFS
Hi guys, Fantastic job on PAEN! However, I'm experiencing some elevation issues. (Running FSX with Global & Vector; and SAK installed. FTX Central set to "North America." Latest libraries installed. I also use PILOT's excellent FS Global Ultimate mesh. My OS is Windows 7. I do not have the "DX10 Preview" box checked, so I assume FSX is running in DX9 mode, even though Windows 7 has DX9, DX10 and DX11.) First encounter: The edge at the start of the runway was elevated by about a foot. I put in the PILOT's supplemental disc, Aerodrome Flattening Meshes, to correct the particular elevation issue... and it apparently worked. The runway was now level with the ground. Second encounter: While taking off, I experienced the flickering gray/black shadow boxes where the runway edge lights are. As I progressed, I saw that part of the grassway area near the windsock was water... but had grass in it. Advancing beyond the end of the runway, the grass area appeared like marshland, with lots of small water bodies. I swung back around, flew over the airport and the town, and headed to the nearby coast. As I paralleled the coast, it appeared that the town tried to recreate their own version of the Cliffs of Dover... and there was some nearby sunken areas, as well. I think the gray/black flickering boxes are perhaps due to a DX incompatibility somewhere (?)... And I think all the other issues are elevation-related. It's not too much of a 'paen' right now, but would eventually like to "level" PAEN. Here are some screenshots: Looks like PAEN is in for some RAEN... -Paul
Russ White
Hi Paul, The wet areas north of the airport are as in real life so no issue there, as for your other problems they seem to all be related to you having another 3rd party APX active for PAEN. This will happen if you have a third party AI program installed, is this the case? The best way to fix this issue is to run a search of your FSX install directory for anything that contains "paen" and then rename any files found OUTSIDE of the ORBX folder to ".OFF" let me know how you get on with this. Also, make sure you have installed the recently released SAK SP1 which fixes several terrain and vector issues around PAEN.
PFS
Hi Russ, Thanks for the help! Yes, there were 2 such non-Orbx PAEN files, one from "MyTraffic" and the other from "TrafficX". I also turned "off" the file that was created by the PILOT's Aerodrome Flattening Meshes disc when I first attempted to fix the elevation that way. All set! Thanks again, -Paul
