darrenkarp
Hi All, I already have some of Orbx's incredible software. What's the difference between FTX Global and the addon's I've already purchased? TIA Daz
Jack the Swede in Spain
Well how about reading the product page? http://fullterrain.com/product_ftxglobal.html
darrenkarp
Thanks. So am I correct in saying that my other Orbx purchases are not required with this?
Jack the Swede in Spain
That is correct. FTXGlobal just replaces the default textures.
darrenkarp
So FTX Global is all of their software and more in one package? Why would anyone buy the individual areas?
jpreou
Global replaces just the global textures; it does not provide the detail of the full ORBX regions or airports. The full regions provide new landclass, textures, vectors (roads, rivers, coastlines), custom placed objects & 'everything', usually mesh too (although N.Ireland I think was missing mesh). There are a gazillion posts on the forums; just search and you'll find a better explanation than this one! You *could* just run Global, but you'd miss out on all the detail the regions offer and may not get good results with add-on airports, since most are designed specifically to integrate with the regions. Alex Goff
Here's a nice description with visuals written by a member of the beta team: http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/61929-ftx-global-what-is-it-all-about/ To sum it up, FTXG is a replacement for the default ground textures, similar to GEX.
