ANSWERED New FSX Installation

I am planning a new FSX installation and wondered what advice could be given on the preferred scenery downloads and method of placement to allow maximum effect.

 

EG. Global, Landclass etc etc

 

I currently use your Scotland scenery along with a number of additions from UK2000.

This is a copy of an "official" ORBX tutorial that I can not find any more:

 

Instructions for Installing All ORBX Regions

 

Before you start, you MUST have FSX installed and fully patched to SP2

If you are using older operating systems (eg Windows XP) you will need Microsoft dotNet 3.5 installed.

Ensure that you Are Logged in as Administrator, and Turn UAC OFF (Vista) or to the lowest setting (Never Notify Windows 7)

Do not use Windows built-in Shell extension for ZIP files to UnZIP packages (it will not handle large packages).  Use 7Zip, WinRAR or similar for files of this size.

Turn off Antivirus Software to prevent interference with Installation procedures.

If the ORBX installers do not find the correct installation location, you need to repair your FSX registry entries.  Tools available from Softpedia and ORBX Support Downloads Page

 

A. Install FTX-AU Regions: (if you have no Au regions, then skip to B.)

   Au SP2 DVD / Avalon

Install the Avalon SP2 DVD

 

Run the AuSP4.002 Patch

Au SP3 DVD or Downloaded AU SP3 Regions

Install the SP3 DVD or the FTX regions (if downloaded)

 

Run the AuSP4.002 Patch

  Au SP4 DVD

Install the SP4 DVD

Run the AuSP4.002 Patch

 

B. Install FTX-NA Regions (If you have no NA regions, then skip to D.)

Install FTX-PNW (if you have purchased PNW)

 

Install FTX-PFJ (if you have purchased PFJ)

 

Install FTX-NRM (if you have purchased NRM)

 

Install FTX-CRM (if you have purchased CRM)

 

Install FTX-SAK (if you have purchased SAK)

 

C. Install  AuMesh (Holgermesh) -- you may skip this if you do not have Au regions installed.

   (this is marked SP3, which is fine)

 

D. Switch FTXCentral to default, and Apply.    

Install  ORBX NZSI

Install  ORBX NZNI

 

E. Switch to Oceania, and Install NZSI patch.

 

E:2 Switch to default, APPLY

 

Install FTX EU England 

Install FTX EU Wales

Install FTX EU Scotland

Switch to Europa, APPLY.

Install ALL Patches for FTX EU

 

F. Install Add-on ORBX Airports (Install Latest Patch for Each)

(a link to detailed instructions will be posted later)

For North American Airports, set FTXCentral to North America before installing these.

 

G. Patch FTX-NA Regions

Set FTX Central to North America, and APPLY (Important)

 

Run PFJ.001 patch (if you have installed PFJ)

 

Run PNW.005 patch (if you have installed PNW)

 

Run NABLUE NRMPatch003 (if you have installed NRM)

 

H. Download and  Install Latest Version of ORBXLibs
