Lack of major landmarks in au blue.

Hello there.

I had a mate show me his fsx with the ftx au blue i think it was scenery. I had him take off from latrobe valley as that is where i live and wanted to see how good it was. Initially it was great. Towns are in the right spot as are golf courses. Not perfect of course but you can tell what they are supposed to be.

However when i look for the usual vfr landmarks. Namely the 3 massive power stations that dot the area. Just wobdering if there is something missing ? or is there future plans to flesh this out in the future.

I must say i am hooked on fsx and would like to get the better scenery however missing the vfr landmarks is a major let down.

Cheers.

In the early days of Orbx when we began to create regions, AU BLUE was our debut product. Back then the regions only contained the new textures, landclass, vector data, aerial obstructions (lighthouses, powerlines and masts) and 3D lighting with a sprinkling of major POIs. We never went to the details our new regions go to like upgrading every single airport in the FSX database, modeling custom VFR waypoints such as the power stations or many other things which customers now take for granted.

I guess we created a rod for our own back by adding a myriad of features to our regions from PNW onwards. We have improved the initial AU regions with four service packs but at this point we have no plans to add thousands of VFR objects and upgrade the thousands of airports in Australia.

That said, the difference in realism between FSX default and FTX Australia is quite substantial and if you invest in a low cost tool like Instant Scenery 2 you could easily add in those power stations yourself using default library objects.

They really need a photoreal patch under them, but I can't figure how to do them, so here is a look at Loy Yang with the other two visible in the distance, and the second is Yallourn, all are done with Instant scenery.. as a visual checkpoint this sort of thing works quite well. They look great when flying the Latrobe Valley. Click the screenies a couple of times to see it full screen.
