Dragon
Hello guys, I'm a big fan of the ORBX sceneries. Recently I bought England, Scotland, Wales and northern Ireland. I installed all patches after I set the FTX Central to "Europe". I also installed FTX Global and the patch after I set FTX Central to "Global". At last I installed the latest Library. Now I noticed some very ugly textures in the centre area of England. https://maps.google.de/maps?hl=de&ll=54.592754,-2.222328&spn=0.195932,0.528374&sll=48.47789,7.940457&sspn=0.224177,0.528374&t=h&z=12 The strange thing is that this ugly textures are mixed with the nice ORBX textures, trees and houses. In the area of the ugly textures are no 3D objects. No trees and no houses. I want to ask if I did something wrong with my installation or is this "normal"? And if this textures are ORBX-textures, will this get fixed?

Wolter van der Spoel
Hi Dragon, Please be so kind and add the coordinates of the area you seem so upset about. Furthermore for support queries please be so kind and add your ordernumber(s) to your Sig as per forum rules. Info on how to do that you can find here => http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/1157-important-notice-please-add-your-order-to-your-sig-for-support
jrrbolkin
That's moorland heather, the purple and green hues are the colours the plants take on through the year, see attached. http://ts4.mm.bing.net/th?id=H.4785651278088875&pid=15.1 http://ts3.mm.bing.net/th?id=H.5028158048437882&pid=15.1 http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?id=H.4730873296715948&pid=15.1 As examples also look on google earth you will see this effect especially over Yorkshire/Derbyshire and other moorland areas. teecee
I brough this matter up in the early days of the release of the UK.. some discussion, but no action on the matter.. The sad thing is that there are some wonderful Moorland texture being used in Scotland and Ireland.. I cannot for the life of me understand Orbx reluctance to use them in Northern England. Teecee. jrrbolkin
Depends on the location Teecee if you see the link above, these textures appear as is in google earth ,so they may be correct. Regards. Gary http://goo.gl/maps/AbYJa See here
teecee
Sorry mate, I was born and raised on the Yorkshire moors. I know what they look like. The texture in the sim is ugly and unneccesary, and perhaps one day this will be fixed. Untill then I do not "fly" over the moors. Teecee.
jrrbolkin
Well you need to come back and see em cos certain areas look like that. Speaking a someone who lives not too far away and who often still goes there. I agree they don't look good in the sim, but check out google earth ,things do change. Dragon
@ Wolter: I added the ordernumer. Because of the coordinates. I posted a link to Google Maps in the first posting. Thanks for all the answers. I hope the FTX guys will add better textures for this mooreland soon. This ones are really ugly. Looks like original FSX textures. Wolter van der Spoel
I'll pass it on to the ENG dev team.
Paul Webster
Hi all, This texture will remain as is for the foreseeable future. This is because when you look from above (i.e aerial photos) that's what you see so that's what we represent. Paul
Dragon
Thanks for the answers. May I ask an other question? With FTX Global, do I still have to set FTX Central to "Europe" when I want to fly in England or can I set it to "Global" every time I fly in EU, AU, PNW, CRM....?
