RESOLVED Constantly getting FTX Central unhandled exception error for EU and Oceania

I am getting the following unhandled exception error whenever I try to switch to EU or Oceania in FTX Central - it does not occur for NA or Default.  If I quit out of FTX Central, when I next start it it is showing the correct region as having loaded, but I have no idea whether all of the switching operations have completed.

Hello:

 

Any chance someone could acknowledge this support request and get back to me?  I am still having this error when switching, and none of the other FTX Central remedies searched in this forum worked for me.  The only way to resolve temporarily is to reboot the computer, though even that does not always work - I can't imagine a reboot every time one wishes to use FTX Central to switch regions to be standard practice?

Hi Kevin

The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user-mapped section open.

Something within your system is preventing FTXcentral from operating, i.e the files FTXcentral wants to swap/backup are 'locked' from being altered

 

A quick seach brought up this old topic, it seems for this customer it was his antivirus interfering

Can you list your antivirus (if you use) and the location of your FSX install (default location, or custom)

Hi Tim:

 

I am using TrendMicro for antivirus, and my FSX install is in C:\Microsoft Flight Simulator X (i.e. not in the default location, but still on the same drive as the rest of Windows).

 

I changed all of the permissions for the entire folder and all subfolders to allow read/write for all users, and I have been running FTX Central as Administrator as well.

 

When I get home this evening though I will try running FTX Central with antivirus disabled and see if that has any impact.

Tim - I have been able to change regions without errors for the last couple of days by temporarily disabling my antivirus whenever I need to run FTX Central.  I think that did the trick...  Thanks for your help!

Might be worth investigating 'excluding' your FSX folder from the antivirus scanning

 

btw, Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) is a great low-impact, small-footprint freeware antivirus program if you ever feel like changing, many of us use it here
