UTF
The area around NZCH is littered with strange anomalies in my scenery. Black geometric patterns to the North and gray scenery fragments mainly to the West. I am using GEX Tropical Pacific together with my assorted FTX sceneries without any conflicts so far. Nevertheless I uninstalled GEX, only to find out the situation to be unchanged. Next I deleted all entries for NZSI and performed a clean reinstall from scratch, i.e. I downloaded NZSI and the 002 patch again and proceeded according to the book. Result: Situation unchanged, everything looks exactly as before. Questions: Does anybody have the same problem? Does anybody have an idea how to resolve it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Misha Cajic
Looks normal to me, you can go on Google Earth and see for yourself that those strangely shaped forested areas are indeed there in real life. As for slightly grey textures, maybe change the season to spring, then it will be greener
Mallard
Have to agree with Misha. Don't know about the grey spots, but the black geometric patterns are the forests to the north of the river Cheers Mallard
tanuki
Yep; welcome to the Eyrewell Forest. The distinct patterning is to help reduce natural tree fell during the prevalent nor'wester's that howl in (120-140 knts) from the Southern Alps. For anyone really interested in this type of forestry management read: http://homepages.caverock.net.nz/~bj/plainsfor.htm
Tim Harris
Hi UTF, The grey areas represent the quarry/earthworks found in the area, you'll see them in Google Earth Cheers Tim
UTF
Hi guys, Thanks for updating me on the topography around Christchurch. It’s quite a while since we have been there (1980 and 1986) and I am getting a bit old. Meanwhile I flew over the Eyrewell Forest, it really looks like Mallard’s screenshot (greetings to the Breisgau!), now I have to check out the quarries. I am sorry for having posted such a dumb question, but it’s nice to hear from such well-informed people. Thanks again.
