ACTIVE FPS Issue at Harvey Field

I'm re-posting this one here as it's appearing rather odd.

Just bought the S43 Harvey (Order Number: FSS0185181) and with most of the control panel settings disabled and tuned down (such as short grass, sparse a/c, etc), I'm getting about 15 to 20 fps when at airport. This also happens whenever I look towards the airport, even when from miles away. Only when looking away from airport do I get my usual 30 fps.

I have very good fps of 30 when flying in KJAC. (Also at other Orbx airports; just bought the Darrington too, and it's butter smooth there at airport).

What could explain the good performance at one airport while another seems to suffer from it?

Was wanting to get the nearby Monroe too but I am concerned that would add one more area of low fps, since it's so near I may end up getting low fps when flying in between both airports.

Hello Lepres,

since S43 is located near a very autogen dense area. autogen density, car traffic and Day/Night Mode settings have a rather big impact. I don't know your system specs but make sure you select Day Mode when you fly daytime. Also car traffic down to 5% and Very Dense autogen instead of Extremely Dense will help in this region. Don't use maximum water.

As for the Control Panel options use the default settings and eventually disable the long grasses (leave the BBQ party disabled). When you have FPS problems, don't use the animated vegetation, set it to static which is the default setting.

Thanks Heiko. I actually already did most settings as you've suggested (even no grass), though I leave autogen at extreme. My 3770K 4.2 / GTX680 handle most scenes from Orbx well, except this and a small number of others.

I'm do not feel that the low fps is due to the dense city nearby. This can't be. As said earlier, flying over city or anywhere else at Harvey gives me near 30 fps most time, SO LONG as I don't catch sight of the airport. The moment even a small part of the airport comes into sight, the fps would drop. This happens too at Tamworth, Calundra and Cessnock. Very strangely, this DOES NOT happen at KJAC and Cairns, in or outside of both airports (near 30 fps throughout), both of which are also quite dense in design.

This uncertainty over the different experience with Orbx airports has been a dampener and a deal-breaker that has put a halt to my buying spree with FTX. Believe it, I had bought up some 15 titles with FTX all just within a month or so recently, following my new PC purchase.

I really had actually been looking to buy up some more airports.

i have the same cpu and card,at harvey i have all boxes check and i have monroe

only autogen i set at very dense at that aerea............frames not under 20 most 30

so i think you need to test at your settings or tweaks,and maybee if you have a good cooler go to 4.6ghz.........whit 4.4 at my system i gave only 20fps there

try this,disable ht.........and delite bufferpols and affinitiymask if you have that in your cfg(make a backup) and have a look at DynamicHeadMovement,i do not need it and it is also good for extra frames.........

also check that your antivirus not check fsx folder,and run fsx as admin............

Thanks a lot, Ralf. I did follow Kosher's guide, though I leave my HT on and set the AM accordingly as advised by Kosher. Didn't want to mess with the HT. Will look into this further.

i have test also with kosta´s,bojote and wat i find lol,but ht does not work for me,and you do not need it for other´s...........

best work ht off and no am,for me 8-12 fps at harvey all extras on..........

and best for me lock fps in fsx.......at the heavy airport i lock fps i at 25 now with that wat i have post,helps and run smoth

google for that,at my motherboard i must open the bios at start..............press and hold delite when pc start. i am shure you find a guide in the internet
